Today is World Mental Health Day. The overall objective is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health.

On an individual level, the things you can do are:
- Speak to your healthcare providers about gaps in the mental health system.
- Write to your local MP if you have ideas for mental health initiatives in your community.
- Educate yourself about ableism and harmful language/attitudes.
- Speak out when you hear ignorance or misinformation.
- Check in with your friends and ask if they are ok. Encourage them to seek help if you are concerned.

It's R U OK Day.

The R U OK campaign is about taking the time check in with friends, family or colleagues to make sure that they are ok. It suggests you use these 4 steps to check-in:
1. Ask R U OK?
- "How are you travelling" or " You don't seem yourself lately - want to talk about it?"

2. Listen
- "I'm here to listen if you want to talk more" or "Have you been feeling this way for a while"

3. Encourage Action
- "what do you think is the first step that might help you" or "Have you spoken to your doctor about this?"

4. Check-in
- " Just wanted to check-in and see how you're going" or "Have things improved for you since our last chat?"

Cleo's Place acknowledges the Jinibara, Kabi Kabi, Jagera and Turrbal peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work, recognising their enduring connection to the area.

We pay respects to Elders, both past and present, as well as emerging leaders.

We acknowledge the significance of the land for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including its cultural, spiritual, social, and economic importance.

We are committed to reconciliation and working in partnership with Traditional Custodians to build a shared future.

This is a useful resource from Queensland Health and a great reminder that the Minor Injury and Illness clinics are a fantastic and free alternative to the Emergency Department.

Do you know the difference between a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic and an Emergency Department? 🤒

Our minor injury clinics are perfect for those 'not quite dramatic enough for Robby’s trauma bay' moments—such as urgent treatment of conditions not anticipated to be life-threatening.

But if your situation belongs in a full-blown Pit episode—we’re talking collapsing, severe pain, or trouble breathing—then the Emergency Department is the place to be. 🚨

Deciding whether to visit a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic or an ED will depend on how severe your injury or illness is. 🤕

Read some examples to help you decide. 👇
