Big update for families and little learners 💬✨
The Australian Government has expanded the M10 Medicare referral pathway, now including speech disorders — opening the door for more children to access early support when it matters most.
🧠💡 Why this matters:
Early intervention is key during the critical years of development. Difficulties with speech can impact communication, learning, confidence, and social connection — but with the right support, children can thrive.
👶 What’s new:
Families can now access Medicare-rebates speech pathology for children with speech disorders (including stuttering and cleft palate) not just broader developmental concerns.
💬 What this means for you:
✔️ Easier access to speech pathology services
✔️ Support earlier, when it has the biggest impact
✔️ Less financial pressure for families
✔️ Better outcomes for children’s communication and learning
👩⚕️ How to get started:
1. Visit your GP or paediatrician
2. Ask about an M10 (formerly Helping Children with Autism) referral
3. Get connected with a qualified speech pathologist
🌱 Every child deserves the chance to be heard, understood, and confident in their communication.
If you’ve been concerned about your child’s speech, this update could make accessing support easier than ever.
