With almost 100 nationalities and over 80 languages spoken throughout Churches of Christ, we welcome and value the many cultures that make up our organisation.

As Mira says, “I feel like they’re not my residents, they’re my real family”.

Listen to Gurpeet (G), Maureen, Martha, Berwyn, Joyce, and Elmira (Mira) speak about how their backgrounds influence the work they do at Churches of Christ.

This week we are celebrating Harmony Week which is a time dedicated to celebrating Australia’s rich cultural diversity and bringing together Australians from all different backgrounds. 🗺️

With more than half of Australians born overseas or with at least one parent who was, Harmony Week is an important way to showcase our diversity. At Churches of Christ, we have 95 nationalities other than Australian represented, and 88 languages spoken by our staff other than English.

This week we will be celebrating our staff and residents. Meet Kerry - one of our residents with a Sri Lankan background who enjoys sports including cricket, and dishes such as curry and rice.

Our Rockingham Aged Care residents recently enjoyed a lovely morning tea outing down at one of our local cafés by the beach. ☕🌿

Getting out into the community is always a highlight! It gives residents the chance to enjoy fresh air, new scenery and meaningful connection beyond the facility. These simple outings make a big difference, creating moments of joy and togetherness for everyone involved. We’re so grateful to our staff for supporting experiences like this and helping residents stay engaged with the wider community.

Our residents at Toowoomba Aged Care have been busy bringing colour and life to the garden, thanks to a special idea that started in Leith’s room and grew into something beautiful. After planting together, the group now meets every four weeks to check in, enjoy morning tea, and admire how their hard work is flourishing.

From well‑planted beds to bright new blooms (including a standout gerbera!), it’s been a joyful project filled with teamwork, laughter, and plenty of green thumbs.

We love seeing residents connect, create, and share these moments together. Stay tuned, the Gardening Gurus story is just getting started! 🌸

This International Women’s Day, we sat down with residents and volunteers from across our services to discuss the changes they've seen occurring over their lifetimes.

Janice, 82, who raised four boys, Margaret, a 92 year old former nurse from Scotland, and Rose, a dedicated volunteer and gifted opera singer, were among those we were privileged to meet.

Their stories highlight how opportunities for women have grown, from greater access to education, travel, and careers to stronger female-led networks and being offered more choices.

What significant changes for women have you seen over your lifetime?

Mini Garden Adventures at Moonah Park Aged Care! 🌿

Dale and Joan shared how much joy and accomplishment they felt when tending to their gardens at home. So together, we created a special mini garden they can look after right at home.
As they planted, they reminisced about their favourite gardening tips and tricks, proving that once a gardener, always a gardener. 🌸🪴

It’s amazing how something small can bring so much connection, purpose, and delight.
Here’s to many more growing moments! 💚

This is what community looks like. 🙌

Our Warwick Aged Care received a beautiful donation of a Cuddle Bed from the Belinda McGowan Foundation, a gift that brings comfort, closeness, and dignity to residents and their loved ones.

Behind every donation like this are people: friends, families, fundraisers, staff, supporters, and the quiet champions of compassion across Warwick. Thank you for coming together to make this possible. Thank you to those who contributed for being part of something truly meaningful. 💜

Caring for older people in our communities requires more than meeting physical needs — it requires connection, compassion and presence.

Every small act of support, whether it is a visit, a call, a shared moment, or a ride to an activity helps bridge the gap for older people who may experience long stretches of social or emotional isolation.

Together, we can be that village. 💛🌿

Our Bribie Island Aged Care recently celebrated Shrove Tuesday. Coming together with the campus Church and their regional engagement partners, residents and team members enjoyed a morning of reflection, freshly made pancakes, and meaningful connection whilst they embraced Christian traditions.

It was an incredible morning connecting our residents and staff with the community and services that Churches of Christ offers. Thank you to all those who put together a lovely morning!🙌☀️
