Metabolic health matters — for pain, recovery, and long-term musculoskeletal health 🧠💪
When we talk about pain, muscles, tendons, and joints, we often focus on where it hurts.
But what’s happening systemically matters just as much.
Poor metabolic health (low fitness, insulin resistance, chronic inflammation) can contribute to:
• Increased pain sensitivity
• Slower tendon and muscle healing
• Reduced strength and tissue quality
• Greater risk of persistent pain
On the flip side, improving metabolic health through regular aerobic exercise and progressive strength training can:
✔ Reduce systemic inflammation
✔ Improve muscle and tendon structure
✔ Increase pain tolerance
✔ Support better long-term outcomes from physiotherapy
This is why rehab is rarely just about one body part.
Movement is medicine — and it works from the inside out.
If pain has been lingering, it may be time to look beyond the sore spot and at the whole system.
