🔥 RETURNING TO EXERCISE 🔥
Getting back into exercise after the holidays? 🎉 You’re not alone! The new year often brings fresh motivation, but the break from physical activity can sometimes leave you feeling like you’ve taken a backward step in your progress 😢
Here’s how to ease back in safely and rebuild your rhythm 👇
1️⃣ Start and progress slowly - it’s tempting to jump straight back into your pre-holiday intensity, but starting lighter gives your body time to readjust and helps prevent soreness and injury. Progression beats perfection!
2️⃣ Find a routine - re-establishing a routine that fits your current schedule and energy levels, helps to rebuild momentum and create structure. Consistency is key, and a plan that feels manageable is more sustainable long term.
3️⃣ Listen to your body - Some days will feel great, others might not, and that’s okay. Pay attention to signs of fatigue or tightness and take rest when you need it to avoid setbacks.
4️⃣ Prioritise recovery - Prioritising simple strategies like stretching, mobility work, hydration, and good-quality sleep will help to reduce fatigue and get you back to exercise sooner!
5️⃣ Don’t be too harsh on yourself - It takes time to rebuild momentum, so focus on progress, not perfection. Celebrate the small wins, they’re what keep you going.
