✋Stop treating telogen effluvium the same as androgenic alopecia

The underlying cause for telogen effluvium is not the same as androgenic alopecia so using minoxidil and DHT blockers will be pointless unless you have overlapping androgenic alopecia. The same goes for hair vitamins.

Establishing the underlying cause is crucial and it is usually stress, iron or Vitamin D deficiency.

Studies show LED red light therapy can help regrow hair, but we see and hear anecdotal reports that some people only see mild results or even no results.

So we decided to look a little deeper.

If the role of red light therapy and sunlight is to stimulate mitochondrial activity…

… then people who already have adequate vitamin D and good mitochondrial function may notice less dramatic results, because red light and vitamin D overlap in biological pathways.

Both:
• Support mitochondrial energy
• Modulate inflammation
• Influence immune signaling
• Affect hair follicle growth

So if someone’s system is already “topped up,” the delta effect of red light can feel underwhelming.

💧 Liquid solution vs Gel

We are often asked what’s better for me, Finasteride solution or Finasteride gel? The answer depends on the site of application!

There’s no one answer fits all.

Finasteride liquid solutions are great for:

• High absorption
• More cost effective
• Easier to measure (dosing)
• Better expiry than gel and
• Great for areas where there is some hair already

The terms liquid and solution are used interchangeably in case you’re wondering!
