We are affiliated with UNSW's Medical Student Society and work to host and promote Psychiatry content Welcome to the official page for UNSW Psychiatry Society.

UNSW Psychiatry Society is a SIG (Significant Interest Group) affiliated with the UNSW Medical Students Society (MedSoc) at the University of New South Wales. We aim to promote, facilitate and consolidate learning within the spectrum of psychiatric medicine for UNSW medical students. Throughout the year, we will be holding several psychiatric-based clinical skills sessions, specialty pathway information sessions and also explore the application of psychiatry in future medical practice! To a lesser extent, we will also be working with MedSoc to destigmatise mental illness and create a general medical student understanding of maintaining good mental health hygiene. Dear medical students, are you interested in child and adolescent psychiatry? 📣📣
Fill in the form to get involved in monthly academic series and join the Australian chapter of an International Fulbright program led by Dr Anita Kishore from Stanford University, US. ✍️
It is a program for medical students interested in child psychiatry, providing opportunity to link to Dr Kishore’s child psychiatry class and present your work conducted with your child psychiatry mentor at the annual conference held in US etc. 🗣️
Fulbright will also organise local activities as part of this program. We look forward to hearing from you!✨✨

📢 Attention all ! We now have all speakers confirmed for the upcoming PIF Introduction to Psychiatry Virtual Short Course on Saturday 15 March from 11 am-1 pm AEDT.

⭐ Read the speaker bios and register for this course by completing the pre-course survey by Monday 10 March: (LINKS IN COMMENTS)

This live short course will allow you to gain further insights into a day/week in the life of a , cover a diverse range of psychiatry subspecialties, as well as the RANZCP training program from our trainees and psychiatrists. There will also be an opportunity to ask live questions in a 35-minute Q&A session towards the end of the course.

📣 Hello, fellow members of PsychiSoc!

On behalf of the World Psychiatry Association, PsychiSoc would like to present this year's Annual WPA Medical Student Essay Competition!

On Monday, the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) launched its 4th Annual Medical Student Essay Competition, their flagship activity for Medical Students and a WPA Presidential initiative with the support of the United Nations Secretariat – Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Division for Sustainable Development Goals and our WPA Medical Students Special Interest Group.

💬 Medical students worldwide are invited to submit an essay [of 3000 words or less] by April 30 on this year's theme of "Reducing Inequalities and Promoting Inclusion to Improve Mental Health."

The WPA hopes this challenge will inspire medical students to explore innovative approaches and solutions that align with the United Nations 10th Sustainable Development Goal of Reducing Inequalities.

🏆 All Finalists and the full text of their essays will be showcased on the WPA website, spotlighting both the authors and their ideas, and the winning essays will also be translated into all six World Health Organization (WHO) official languages.

Moreover, the winners will be acknowledged at the 25th World Congress of Psychiatry (WCP 2025) in Prague later this year. To facilitate their participation in the congress, the winners' registration fees will be waived and a Travel Award of up to €1500 EUR will be granted to cover travel and accommodation expenses!
