We originally had education separate to our midwifery services on social media, but we're in the middle of a whole refresh & realised that there is more value in having all of our info in the one spot!

So, this will be the last post over on this page and you'll find me visiting the other account more frequently to share some info and laughs, alongside our other practitioners!

For now, our antenatal classes are still able to be booked on the current website www.mamabirtheducation.com, but soon we'll have a whole new website with our midwifery care, lactation services, birth education, parenting education and professional education all in one spot βœ…

Affirmations to help with the intensity of labour? We've got you!

These are not just mantras; they are intentional statements that can play a big role in approaching pain with an open mind. They can act as mental anchors, redirecting attention away from the feelings of fear and towards the calm acceptance of the intensity of the experience

Language in labour has the potential to make a huge difference to the overall experience - so why not be your own cheerleader and celebrate your resilience?

Do you have a favourite affirmation that you used in labour? We'll keep sharing some of ours! πŸ’š

Fun fact about newborn babies!

In the early days of life, a large amount of body heat is lost through their heads. This is due to the relatively larger surface area of their heads compared to the rest of their bodies - alongside them learning how to regulate their temperature.

In Australia, there is no need to for babies to wear a beanie indoors (or outdoors a lot of the time!). Doing so can prevent them from regulating their temperature appropriately, and can lead to over heating. πŸ˜…

So, why is this fact helpful?

You might choose to dry your baby's head first after their first bath, to avoid extra effort for them in regulating their temperature in those early days. βœ…

The pressure around New Years resolutions compounds the pressure of parenthood sometimes! πŸ™ƒ

Please remember that you are more than a project that needs constant tweaking, & improvement
You are a human being living a life that doesn't have to be quantified, measured or 'hacked' if it doesn't serve you

You're doing a great job in this new parenthood role - we don't think you need to change a thing πŸ‘

❓Question from class ❓

A really valid question before we start to dive into what the continuum or 'stages' of labour look like!

Soon, we realise that a portion of our labour will (hopefully) be at home & that the environment really matters when supporting our hormones, minds and bodies to feel safe enough to drop into labour πŸ’š
