Summer in Sydney has a way of bringing people outdoors, parks, beaches, gardens, and long afternoons with family. For those who are grieving, these bright days can feel bittersweet, yet they can also offer moments of calm.

If you’re able, take a gentle step today: sit in the sun with a coffee, visit a favourite local spot, or take a slow walk and let memories come as they are, without rushing them away.

From all of us at Andrew Kennedy Funeral Homes, we’re proud to serve our local families with quiet care and respect, through every season.

As the year changes, grief can feel sharper, not because you’re “going backwards,” but because time keeps moving while love remains.

If you’re entering the New Year with someone on your mind, you might choose one small intention in their honour: visit a special place, write them a letter, make their recipe, donate to a cause they cared about, or simply speak their name.

You don’t have to leave anyone behind to keep going forward. ❤️

If you know someone who has lost a loved one, the most helpful thing you can do is keep it simple, and keep showing up.

A message like “Thinking of you today” can mean the world. So can practical help: dropping off a meal, offering a lift, or inviting them for a short walk (with no pressure to “be cheerful”). Grief doesn’t need fixing, just gentle company.

This is what community looks like in Kensington and Bexley North: people caring for people, quietly and sincerely.

As we welcome a New Year, we’re thinking of the many families in Kensington and Bexley North who are stepping into January with someone missing from their lives. This time of year can bring hope, reflection, and also a quiet ache, and all of it is valid.

If you’re grieving, you don’t have to “move on” to move forward. Take the year one day at a time, hold close the memories that matter, and be gentle with yourself as you find your footing again.

From all of us at Andrew Kennedy Funeral Homes, we wish our community a peaceful, safe and meaningful New Year.

As the festive season approaches, we at Andrew Kennedy Funerals understand that this time of year can stir a range of emotions. For many, it’s a season of joy and togetherness, but for others, it can be a time of quiet reflection and remembrance.

If you’re finding this season difficult, please know you are not alone. Reach out to us, to friends, to family, or to someone who can listen. A conversation, no matter how small, can make a world of difference.

From our families to yours, we wish you peace, comfort, and moments of light throughout the festive season. May the New Year bring gentle healing and hope. Merry Christmas from our families to yours. ❤️

Warm regards,
Peter Giarratano

This season often brings meaningful customs, special foods, songs, prayers, and the familiar ways families gather. For many in our local European communities, these traditions are more than routine, they’re a bridge between generations.

If you’re remembering someone this Christmas, consider including them in your traditions: set a place at the table, cook their favourite dish, play the song they loved, or share one story that makes everyone smile.

Traditions keep love present. And love, in its own way, keeps people close. ❤️

For many families, Christmas is filled with tradition, togetherness, and familiar voices around the table. For others, it can be a tender season, especially when someone is missing.

If you’re carrying grief this Christmas, please know you’re not alone. It’s okay to keep plans simple, to step outside for a moment, or to honour a loved one in a small way, lighting a candle, sharing a story, visiting a place that feels close to them.

From our families to yours, we’re sending warmth to the communities of Kensington and Bexley North, and to every family far from home who still holds their traditions close.

Mondays can feel especially heavy when you’re grieving, the week moves forward, but your heart may still be catching up. If you’re missing someone today, please know there’s no “right” way to start the week. Some days it’s simply enough to get through the morning, take one small step, and be kind to yourself.

If you know someone who has experienced loss, a simple message can mean more than you realise: “Thinking of you today.” Grief can feel isolating, and gentle check-ins remind people they’re still held by their community.

From all of us at Andrew Kennedy Funerals, we’re here for families in Kensington, Bexley North and surrounding suburbs, with care, respect and support when you need it most. ❤️

With our European heritage, we believe that celebrating someone’s life can be both tender and elegant, a service that feels familiar, dignified and deeply respectful.

Whether you prefer a simple gathering or a more formal celebration, we’ll help design a farewell that reflects your loved one’s spirit and brings comfort to your family in Kensington, Bexley North and beyond.

Because living well after loss includes remembering well. ❤️

Grief doesn’t stop for the Christmas Season. For some, the festive lights and laughter can feel distant when someone important is no longer here.

If you’re facing your first Christmas without them, give yourself permission to pause rather than push through.

Whether it’s taking a quiet moment by the riverbank, walking on the coast, or simply sharing a story at home, you don’t have to do it alone. The Andrew Kennedy team is here to support you, every step of the way. ❤️
