We had an excellent IBDSA visiting professorship educational night with PD Dr med. Sophie Restellini!Sophie delivered a fantastic talk, she emphasised the importance of achieving remission before conception, recommended a low-dose Aspirin starting at 12-16 weeks of gestation. We thank our audience, our education chair our IBD team and our state manager Cassie Bennetts. We also thank our sponsor AbbVie MENARINI Group and Ferring Pharmaceuticalsfor their support and commitment to advancing education and improving patient care.

It’s back‑to‑school time! As a new term begins, it is more important than ever to ensure students living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) feel supported at school and throughout their learning journey. This resource aims to inform educators, with the goal to help schools work with families in supporting and preparing the students for higher levels of education and foster greater independence.

As an educator, you will, at some time, probably have a student with IBD. In fact, IBD is often thought of as a “young person’s disease” because its onset is typically between the ages of 15 and 35, although it can certainly be diagnosed at a younger age. Therefore, it is important to engage the school right from the start as an active partner in supporting a student with IBD.
