At AvantiCare, we’re proud to work alongside clinicians who bring heart, purpose, and genuine connection to the people they support every day.

Luca, one of our physiotherapists, recently shared a reflection on what makes working in aged care so meaningful:

“There are many rewarding aspects to being a physiotherapist, all of which are further highlighted when working in the aged care sector. One of the most advantageous aspects for me would have to be seeing the profound impact we can have on a person’s life, both mentally and physically, no matter how big or small. Tasks that are often overlooked by many can at times be quite challenging for some people, and being able to provide assistance and make these tasks easier is highly rewarding.
Even though we are the health professionals providing the support, I believe there are many learning experiences and life lessons that are also provided to us by our clients.
They’ve shown me the power of acceptance, the humour in adversity, and the significance of celebrating even the smallest victories — all of which have helped shape the clinician I am today.”

Therapist Tips for Staying Independent:
• Move every hour — even 2–3 minutes of standing or walking keeps joints and circulation happy
• Strength over steps — lifting light weights or using resistance bands builds muscle and protects balance
• Practice “everyday strength” — sit-to-stand from a chair, reaching, stepping sideways… these are real-life exercises
• Stay connected — join a walking group, do exercises with a friend, or try a community class. Movement feels easier together.
