We’re kicking off another great year of Cadets at Kersbrook CFS.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn new skills, build confidence, make mates, and get a taste of what volunteering in the fire service is all about.

If you’ve got a young person who’s keen to join, now’s the time! 🚒

Our brigade member completed a second night shift overnight at the Deep Creek fire. Crews continued mopping-up and strengthened containment lines, working with rakehoes and knapsacks due to the challenging terrain.

After a week of sustained firefighting efforts, with multiple shifts completed by Kersbrook CFS alongside other firefighting resources from across Australia, the Deep Creek fire has now been declared contained. 🚒

This incident is a timely reminder that the risk of bushfire remains ever-present as we continue through the fire season, and the importance of staying prepared and vigilant. 🔥

To all brigade members who have put in long hours and multiple shifts: once again, you’ve done our brigade and our community proud. Outstanding work! 👏🏻💪🏼

One of our brigade members is currently deployed to the Deep Creek Fire, which continues to burn in areas that are inaccessible to fire crews, completing a night shift last night

Crews are continuing backburning and mop-up operations, strengthening containment lines to reduce the risk of further spread. Tonight will mark a second nightshift of operations, working alongside other local brigades from our area.

Stay safe!

Yesterday afternoon we deployed crews on our 34 appliance, along with the Group Bulk Water Carrier as part of a strike team with Paracombe CFS, Gumeracha Country Fire Service, Cudlee Creek & Forreston appliances, to assist with the fire at Deep Creek.

Our crews worked to strengthen and secure control lines. These are the breaks that help stop the fire from spreading further to ensure sections of the burn area remained contained. They also supported operations during a planned backburn, providing on-ground coverage to quickly respond if any flare-ups or breakouts occurred overnight.

After a long and demanding shift, crews returned home after midnight, helping keep the community safe and earning some well deserved rest 😴🚒

Last night we responded to a tree down, blocking the road and hung up in another tree.

The local residents were not impressed with our arrival and made their feelings known, repeatedly and at close range 🐝🐝

A few of our crew even copped the ultimate bee review: 1 star, would sting again.

With Tea Tree Gully SES assisting, the tree was cut up and the road cleared.

💛❤️ Thinking of Our Victorian Mates 💛❤️

Our thoughts are with our firefighting mates and communities across Victoria who have been doing it tough with the ongoing bushfire crisis. Dozens of blazes continue to burn, with a State of Disaster declared as crews battle fires that have burned hundreds of thousands of hectares and destroyed homes and structures.

To everyone on the trucks, on the tools, in comms and in backing crews up, we know the long shifts, rough conditions and the toll it takes. This is where mateship means everything, and the fire service family always stands shoulder to shoulder. 🚒🔥

South Australia are in the process to send fire appliances and crews to Victoria to assist and support our CFA colleagues.

From all of us at Kersbrook CFS, Stay safe. 💪
