Do you or someone you know have a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of Hypermobility and/or Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS)?

Here at Smart, we understand that Hypermobility (connective tissue laxity) extends beyond joints and tissues, impacting systems including the cardiovascular, digestive and nervous system.

This can lead to experiencing:
- Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS)
- Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS)
- Dysautonomia
- Chronic fatigue
- Dizziness
- Anxiety
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and reflux

We have experienced clinicians who are a part of the SA Core Network of Excellence with a special interest in hEDS management across our medical doctors, physiotherapists and chiropractors who can address the many symptoms which fall under the hEDS umbrella.

Hypermobility is common and often overlooked or misunderstood, each individual’s symptoms are unique and come in many different stripes πŸ¦“

Did you know that we offer Radial Pressure Wave Shockwave Therapy?

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 π™žπ™¨ π™žπ™©?
πŸ’₯ a non-invasive treatment technique used to treat various musculoskeletal conditions and injuries
πŸ’₯ delivers high-energy acoustic waves through the skin to the injured area (very different to TENS - does not involve electrical currents)

π˜½π™šπ™£π™šπ™›π™žπ™©π™¨:
πŸ’₯ pain relief through desensitisation of nerve endings and release of Substance P
πŸ’₯ promotion of healing response and collagen production essential for tissue repair
πŸ’₯ calcium breakdown within tissues
πŸ’₯ release of trigger points

πŸ’₯ tendinopathy (e.g. Achilles, elbow, gluteal, rotator cuff)
πŸ’₯ calcific tendinopathy
πŸ’₯ plantar fasciitis
πŸ’₯ greater trochanters pain syndrome
πŸ’₯ shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome) and Osgood Slatters Disease
πŸ’₯ osteoarthritis (e.g. knee, hip)
πŸ’₯ muscle trigger points

Please note that the treatment is designed to be uncomfortable to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration (Jen gives it a big thumbs up πŸ˜¬πŸ‘)

Yes, it’s finally official β€” after 21 wonderful years at Keswick, Smart Health is moving to a new home!

Following a careful and patient search after plans to redevelop our Keswick site, we’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Smart Health will be relocating to the iconic 88 O’Connell Street, North Adelaide in the latter part of 2025.

Our new clinic will be located on Level Two of the Archer Tower, offering stunning views of the Adelaide Hills, CBD, and Adelaide Oval from our treatment and exercise areas. This inspiring environment reflects the high standards of care, expertise, and service you’ve come to expect from us every day.

Accessibility has been front of mind throughout this process. The building provides easy access from both O’Connell and Archer Streets, along with 116 complimentary, high-clearance undercroft car parks for clients. You’ll be able to reach our clinic via a stylish staircase through the open atrium or a lift located right next to our reception.

We’ll be sharing regular updates as we move closer to the transition β€” including progress on the fit-out and all the exciting things ahead.

Thank you for being such a valued part of the Smart Health community. We can’t wait to welcome you into our new clinic later this year. Until then, we’ll continue to be here to help with all those aches and pains!

Last Friday the Smart Health Team downed tools and came together to renew their cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid training. There was plenty of action as everyone brushed up on the latest in these essential life-saving techniques.

Our trainers put us through our paces with a series of stations to test us on the theory content we had all completed prior to the day. Jen impressed us all with her chest compressions, showing incredible skill and precision. Russell did a fantastic job performing rescue breaths under Lincoln’s watchful eye. Robyn had a smile on her face even as Lisa placed her in the recovery position. Kelsey’s quick actions and calm demeanor were put to the test when she effectively managed Tania’s mock fainting episode and Abby and Natasha enjoyed refreshing their pediatric skills with the mannequins.

The Smart Health Team walked away from the training feeling confident and up to date with the latest CPR and first aid techniques. It’s reassuring to know that we are prepared to handle any unexpected situations that may arise.

We continue to prioritize safety and well-being in our workplace, supporting each other and working together to create a safe and healthy environment for all. Great job, team!
