🎧 Headphones can be a danger — especially if you have hearing loss.
🔴 Last week, four intruders broke into our home.
My son, wearing headphones, didn't hear them until they were inside.
💡 Headphones can block out smoke alarms, traffic, or even someone entering your home. But modern hearing aids can stream sound safely — while keeping you aware of your surroundings.
Be careful with what you put in or near your ears👂 even parts of jewellery can end up where they shouldn’t. This metal backing was lodged deep in the ear canal. Trying to remove it yourself can cause damage or push it in deeper - Dr Moh safely removed it under the microscope today
🔔Remember, when in doubt, always seek expert help!

Hearing loss remains one of the modifiable risk factors for dementia, according to a recent update published in The Lancet in 2024. The Lancet Commission suggests nearly half of dementia cases could be preventable!
📊 Projected global dementia cases:
・2019: 57 million
・2050: 153 million 📈
🧠 Dementia Risk Factors: 2024 Update from The Lancet
Key findings:
・Hearing loss remains a modifiable risk factor
・Untreated vision loss and high LDL cholesterol now recognized as risk factors
・14 modifiable factors could prevent up to 45% of dementia cases
An estimated 153 million people will be living with dementia by 2050, a significant increase from the 57 million in 2019. As life expectancies improve, the number of people living with dementia worldwide continues to rise 📈
The 2024 report from the Lancet Commission on dementia prevention, intervention, and care provides compelling new evidence that untreated vision loss and high LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol are also risk factors for dementia. Around 45% of dementia cases are potentially preventable by addressing 14 modifiable risk factors, the Commission suggests.
