In honor of International Day of Older People which we acknowledge on October 1st, our residents George, Margaret, Ted and Des were happy to be interviewed about their experiences in ageing.
Q1. What are some of the most rewarding things about getting older?
The knowledge and wisdom we have gained over the years has been the most rewarding. We also now cherish the value of good friendship.
Q2. What modern technology have you found most helpful as you age?
The remote control for the Tv, we no longer have to stand up to change the channel! Mobile phones and iPad's so we can stay connected to friends and family, as well as live streaming services such as Foxtel so we can always watch our sport and choice of movies.
Q3.Do you think the world is a better place now than it was when you were younger?
No. It was simpler when we were younger. You could leave your house unlocked, play outside and feel safe; there wasn't as much crime and disrespect. We addressed our elders as Mr. or Mrs. You knew your neighbors and life was just easier.
Q4. What advice would you give to younger people about how to live a healthy and fulfilling life?
Take up a sport and join a club, nothing is better than finding great friends! Eat a balanced diet and always exercise, you'll need a fit body and mind as you age.
