The mental load isn’t just mentally draining. For many of us it’s constant, invisible, and unevenly carried.

Research shows that women continue to take on a disproportionate share of unpaid caregiving, with real impacts on mental and physical health.

Smiling Mind’s most recent State of Mind Report found that nearly three in four (72%) parents feel overwhelmed every week, and that 1 in 4 feel this way every single day. 😔

Parental mental health is closely linked to children’s wellbeing, and supporting the mental fitness of parents, particularly mums and primary caregivers, is one of the most meaningful ways we can support children, families and future generations.

The ‘Manage the Mental Load’ pathway is here to help you pause, reset, and build mental fitness skills to navigate the day-to-day before you hit breaking point.

Practical and engaging activities will help you:

- Spot when the mental load is weighing you down
- Drop the "perfect parent" myth
- Put yourself on the list (without the guilt)
- Find small, daily moments to recharge

🧠 You can find the pathway by searching ‘Manage the Mental Load’ in the free Smiling Mind App, or learn more at https://hubs.la/Q04814_H0

Navigating the huge transformation from being a child to an adult has never been more challenging or more difficult. Even before the pandemic, more of our young people were struggling ...

This is your reminder that your path is still unfolding ... exactly as it’s meant to.

You haven’t missed your chance.
You don’t need to be perfect.
And you’re not meant to do it alone.

You’re learning.
You’re evolving.
You’re practising.

That’s enough. That’s everything.

• You’ll need help for some parts (and that’s ok) • Many people won’t understand, but the ones that do are your people • Courage feels familiar and unfamiliar at the same time • No one can do it for you, or like you • You have to practice (everything)’ Quote written by Dr Rebecca Ray. You’re the only person who can define what recovery looks like to you.

Maybe it’s waking up and having five minutes of calm before the day begins.

Or going to one social event you would have dreaded before.

Or simply noticing that things feel a little more manageable than they used to.

No matter where you are in your mental health journey, you’ve got this 💪
