Hi everyone, I hope you're all well. I'd like to say again that I appreciate every single one of you who came to support me at the Carey Bay studio and for the brief period in the Kilaben Bay Hall. It was an incredible learning experience from a business perspective and deeply rewarding to teach you all.

I've taken a hiatus teaching for a number of months now, which allowed me to focus on self care and my Public Health studies. I've got an exciting project coming up this semester which will allow me to blend two things I love - Public Health and Yoga.

I'm developing a Corporate Yoga offering, because I think there's a need for more preventative health measures in sedentary work environments.

Pain-free and stress-free workers are productive (and happy!) workers. Group yoga is an excellent investment to improve employee wellbeing. If this is something you're interested in, I'd love to know.

I'm currently overhauling the website (which, as most IT things do, will involve many hours and likely some knashing of teeth). I'll update you again soon.

Kind regards & namaste,

Kate

A quick explainer about a few common Sanskrit terms you might hear in a yoga class. If you’ve ever felt confused or alienated in a class where certain Sanskrit terms or pose names are presumed knowledge, I hear you. Once you get to know the basics, you can listen out for them and usually figure out how to quickly orient your body (even if you’re feeling lost). 🥑

And that’s a wrap! Thank you very much again to everyone who supported the Carey Bay studio. Special thanks to Mum, Jess and Sue (and Sam 😆) for helping me pack down today. It was definitely less sad doing it with company (and significantly easier!). Big thanks again to Sue and Jess for my flowers 🌻🥰💚🥑

Finding and leaning into your passion ✨

This picture was taken today for one of my classes at university. As daggy as it is 😆, I like it, because it reminds me that I have *finally* landed in the right degree for me (at least, I’m pretty sure I have right at this current moment!). I’m doing a Bachelor of Public & Community Health, which is a world-first degree running under the Big Picture Learning (BPL) framework at the University of Newcastle. With BPL, you get to decide what you’re passionate about and follow your nose. You design your own learning plan and decide where you’d like your passion to take you career-wise.

If you’ve ever felt - or still feel - uncertain about what you’re meant to do with your life, I hear you.

So far at uni, I’ve tried my hand at the following:

- Occupational Therapy (1.5 semesters)
- Accounting (completed 75% of the degree)
- Financial Planning (completed 2 courses)

It’s only recently that I’ve begun the process of unlearning the shame associated with not completing these degrees. It is okay to start things and decide at any point (even if you’re close to the finish line) that you’d rather try something else. It was definitely the right decision to not complete my previous degrees, because if I had, I wouldn’t have discovered my passion.

If you can’t read the words on the sign, it says “I’m passionate about yoga as an upstream health intervention”. I’m lucky enough to be in a position where I can explore so many avenues within this passion area with the support of my cohort.

As my partner recently reminded me “we’re here for a good time, not a long time”. With that in mind, it seems silly to me now to think of feeling ashamed about not finishing a degree I wasn’t passionate about. Goodbye shame. 👋

🥑 Thank you so much everyone. I’ll be sending out an email and modifying the website as necessary soon. 🥑
