That’s a wrap for April! How was it for you?

📸 1-7 - went on an AMAZING holiday! Travelled on the Ghan Train, stopped at some amazing places and hung out in wineries in SA at the end. Loved every second of it.
📸 5 - bought a painting
📸 8 - taught a very engaged Hypnobirthing class
📸 9 - it was my birthday! Also my husband’s birthday on the same day (fun fact)
📸 - 10-11 back to real life with meal prepping and client visits. I am now consistently on call for clients until September 🙌🏻
12 - spoke at the webinar on Postpartum Prep, here’s me finishing my slide deck with Henry’s help 🤣
I can’t believe we’re now done with the first 1/3 of 2026. I’ll be spending some time and planning tomorrow, always conscious that time slips past me if I am not intentional.

Join me and other postpartum experts at the Not Another Onesie ‘Gather Your Village’ online event tomorrow night (Weds 28th April), 7pm.
I’m talking all things practical preparation for what is often a confusing and isolating transition. This tender time can be made so much smoother by getting some good quality information and applying some practical prep.
You can get tickets through this link, I’ll pop a live link in my Stories.

March was a massive month.
It started with a wonderful birth (always the best way to start a new month!), even though I was then off call for the month it remained a busy one. Client visits, beginning, ongoing and final ones. Community building through doula catchups and the epic Doula Conference!
I invested in myself by attending a Retreat, we can’t pour from an empty cup - that’s true for my clients and it’s true for me 😉
As well as changes in my home life, a new deck at home (feels like we have 2 new rooms!), one child planning to move out and another starting full time work.
Thank you March, I lovingly let you go. April, let’s see what you’ve got 🙏🏻

Today a midwife told me how much she LOVED seeing a Hypnobirthing family in action during a birth.
I always say that I love the course more for the partners than I do for the pregnant women and that is because at the start of a course the partners are often unsure of their role or how to effectively support a woman in labour. But by the end they are prepared, confident and excited to do it!
This midwife said she just loves seeing the Hypnobirthing tools being used because of the confidence it gives partners and how much better the experience is for the mums.
Want to come to class and find out more? If you’re in Sydney you can book into a class on my website, I can’t wait to share the information with you 🥰

This client hired me after a zoom call, we connected straight away. She was hoping to have a HBAC (Homebirth After Caesarean) with a private midwife and a doula. Full of determination after her first birth 5 years ago she knew she wanted to do things very differently this time around.
In our first meeting she cried as she shared the story of her first birth, we dug deep together over that and future meetings to prepare to meet her baby.
I couldn’t have been happier to support this family, they are loving, connected and willing and this mum worked through so much to meet her beautiful daughter on her terms - roaring her into the world in her bedroom as her partner held her, me and the midwives standing back and holding space.

It’s a privilege to support every family, but when they choose to support my little business back, it honestly means the world.
Thank you 🙏🏻

Is there a trend where subsequent babies come towards the end of the year? My mind wanders when I’m in the pool - haha! After receiving another email from a past client telling that they were expecting again and was I available in an October I got to thinking….
My years often end with a lot of repeat clients, more than are distributed through the rest of the year.
So what do you think? Does the New Year arrive and people think “let’s start trying’?

I LOVE volunteering for the Doula Network Australia. I have been on the Committee for around 7 years now. It aligns with my values of working for the betterment of my community and the families that we serve.
BUT sometimes it means that I have to work through stuff I don’t know how to do and it takes ages and feels hard and I get grumpy.
🌟
And this is how many of my clients feel when they’re preparing for their birth or are in the middle of it!
So, I feel you. Today has been a day, but just I like I have my client’s backs, I know that the wonderful Doula Network Committee has mine 🥰

Get some big knickers for your labour an postpartum! Your cute thongs or little knickers will not hold a maternity pad. I see it all the time, it’s awkward and uncomfortable for you and we don’t want that.
Get some disposable diapers and/or some full briefs to see you through the season of your labour and postpartum. You want to feel secure in that time, not like something is hanging out.
Thank me later…
