🐝 Did you know bee stings are the biggest culprits for venomous encounters? According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, they caused over a quarter of 3,500 hospitalisations in 2017–18, mainly due to allergic reactions.*

If you get stung, remember to:

1️⃣ Scrape the stinger out with a flat object like a credit card.
2️⃣ Wash the area with soap and water.
3️⃣ Apply ice wrapped in a cloth for 20 minutes as needed.

Consider antihistamines or cortisone cream for swelling and itching. If pain persists or redness expands, seek medical advice quickly.

🌞 The low down on UVA & UVB protection 🌞

Did you know that SPF protection isn’t the same as UVA protection? Here’s what you need to know to keep your skin safe (1):

🔍 UVA Rays:
These are deeper, penetrating rays and are considered the most dangerous type of UV light. They are primarily responsible for DNA damage, leading to aging, wrinkles, and increasing the risk of basal cell carcinoma and melanoma.

🌅 UVB Rays:
These shorter rays cause redness and sunburn. While sunscreen may protect against UVB rays, it’s crucial to ensure it also provides UVA protection to prevent DNA damage.
