Hansen Park Kindergarten for YRK in Kilysth has been offering quality 3 and 4 year old programs for more than 50 years.

We focus on the development of social and emotional wellbeing, language skills, and preparing for the transition to primary school. Hansen Park Kindergarten has been offering quality 3 and 4 year old programs for more than 40 years. Our curriculum fosters the child’s curiosity and develops their unique skills and interests. Our newly renovated centre also has a spacious native outdoor area with a bike track, sandpit and fort. We believe in providing a range of experiences that cater to the individual child and nurture their sense of imagination and belonging.

Yarra Ranges Kinders - Christmas Holiday Closure

Our kinders will be closed as of Friday 19th December and will reopen again for Term 1 on Thursday 29th January 2026.

Our Head Office will be closed for Tuesday 23rd December and will reopen again on Monday 12th January 2026.

We wish all our families and the wider Yarra Ranges Community a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year.

World Children’s Day – 20 November 🌏

Each year, we celebrate the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It’s a day to protect children’s rights, support their wellbeing, and make sure their voices are heard for a brighter future.

This World Children’s Day, UNICEF Australia invites every child to speak up through A Minute of Loudness! Kids are encouraged to share their ideas on how to make the world a better place for all children—especially when it comes to play.

Play is essential. It helps children learn, grow, connect, and heal—no matter who they are or where they live. Through play, children make friends, explore the world, and feel happy. 💛

Book week at Hansen Park Kindergarten with our special guest storyteller Hanna from Mooroolbark Library.
The children listened attentively as she read Spiro (the resilient spider) and danced as Hanna sang songs.

The children have been enjoying being creative in the construction of marble tracks. As an extension, they are exploring this play equipment learning about force, and gravity while experimenting with different track combinations. This engaging resource supports independent discovery, collaborative play and STEM exploration from a young age

This NAIDOC Week, Yarra Ranges Kindergartens proudly celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We’re especially excited NAIDOC Week is celebrating 50 Years! This year’s theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” is all about celebrating the amazing stories, knowledge, and culture being passed down to children — our future leaders. 🌟

We honour the strength, wisdom and connection to Country of our First Nations communities. At YRK, we are committed to respectful learning, inclusion and partnership — not just during NAIDOC Week, but all year round.

4YO sessions: 8.30am-4.00pm
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Families will choose 2 days for a total of 15 hours of kinder per week.

3YO sessions: 8.30am-4.00pm
Wednesday and Friday.
A total of 15 hours of kinder per week

The children at Hansen Park Kindergarten always look forward to visits from Bunnings Bayswater. We are grateful for their generous donation of new seedlings and the expert advice on caring for our vegetable gardens.

By encouraging the children to help plant and maintain the vegetable gardens, they learn about where their food comes from and the importance of sustainable practices.

The children from Hansen Park Kindergarten enjoyed a walk to the Japara Bridge Community Garden. A wonderful opportunity for the children to explore the gardens and plant their own seeds. This visit fuelled the children’s interest in gardening and growth.

MECEC is home to two beautiful outdoor yards, designed for play, exploration and learning.

All groups share both spaces throughout the year, which include sandpits, swings, covered decking, and climbing equipment.

🌿 The 3-year-old yard features a cubby house, slide, basketball ring and bike track.
🌱 The 4-year-old and mixed-age yard includes monkey bars, a pirate ship and a veggie patch.

🦕 Dino fun at Montrose!

The children have loved exploring Dinosaur Land, building small worlds, telling stories, and learning through play.

Songs, puppets and stories helped bring the theme to life and extend their literacy learning.
