This is what being a Pilates or Yoga Teacher often looks like. Sitting or standing in observation of our students and clients. Giving verbal or hands on cues. Sometimes we demonstrate the movement but most often we are talking you through it so you can feel it - the cues we use are specific. Often the way we cue one person to move will sound totally different for another person doing the same movement. Teaching movement is a skill set that takes years to refine. So when you’re looking for a studio to practice from - don’t skimp on the teachers. Ask them- how long have you been teaching? Where did you study? What union or alliance do you belong to? Who are your mentors? What’s your area of interest when it comes to human movement? Why do teach? All of this should be easy to answer and of it should make your teacher feel defensive. Pilates ain’t pilates ain’t pilates same goes for yoga. ❤️

Without the teacher there is no Pilates. It is a whole body experience, a symbolic relationship between the teacher and the body. It is equal parts you and me. Equal parts observation and expression. Equal parts art and science. You can’t replace the teacher, we can’t ignore your wholeness. 🤍

After 25+ years of teaching Pilates. I’m walking my own path. Focused, intentional movement in an environment the fosters the somatic space, here true Pilates takes place. The rhythm, the breath, the connection to self. Sure it’s about muscles and bones and nerves and alignment- but it’s more. It’s about returning home - letting your nervous system gently guide you back - building strength that flows and the breath holds your will. Liz x

Yin for Shoulders, Neck & Upper Spine

Yin Yoga is traditionally known for opening the lower body and spine—but when we bring focus to the neck, shoulders, and upper body, we unlock a whole new level of freedom, ease, and wellbeing.

In this special Yin Yoga immersion, we’ll work deeply through the wrists, arms, shoulders, and neck, while also incorporating classic Yin poses to bring balance and a full-body sense of release.

Why the Upper Body?
In today’s world, we carry an enormous amount of tension in the neck and shoulders. Hours spent at desks, on computers, or hunched over phones creates a cascade of stress throughout the upper body.
