Do you have industrialised seed oils such as canola, corn, cottonseed, soybean, sunflower, safflower, or peanut oils? Or do you know if you consume this in the packaged foods you buy from the supermarket?
Vegetable seed oils are omega 6 fatty acids which are generally pro-inflammatory in our bodies compared with the more well known omega 3 fatty acids which are generally anti-inflammatory.
We need a ratio of omega 6 to 3 fatty acids of between 3:1 or even better in my opinion of 1:1.
Our standard Australian diet may put that ratio at around 10-20 : 1
A diet high in omega 6 oils, which oxidise so readily, puts our bodies into a state of chronic inflammation which may lead to many chronic inflammatory diseases including heart disease, diabetes, obesity, autoimmune disease, asthma and mental health issues.
My challenge to you for the next few days is to look at the labels of every food you eat and note down the industrial seed oils they contain and pop your findings in the chat listing the type of food and the type of oil.
I did this over the past few days and was reminded how easy it is to slip back into these old habits for the sake of convenience.
If you are having difficulty losing excess weight, then removing these oils from your diet will be a great way to start on your healing journey.
