The Lady Bjelke-Petersen Community Hospital plans to offer a range of specialist services, surgical procedures and limited overnight stays for patients recovering from surgery in their newly refurbished Kingaroy facility. Wherever possible, local expertise and services will be utilised and a Medical Advisory Committee is planned to ensure local medical involvement in the hospital. The hospital is currently welcoming clinicians and specialists as part of a staged approach to the expanded delivery of health care services to the region. Dental/Maxillofacial - extractions, restorations
Ophthalmology - including cataract surgery, pterygium and glaucoma surgery. Gastroenterology - colonoscopy, gastroscopy
General surgery - lesions, hernia
Oncology - intragam fusions
Additional planned services include gynaecology, orthopaedics, urology and consideration is being given to the future reintroduction of palliative care. The Lady Bjelke- Petersen Community Hospital is licensed with Queensland Health and accredited to ISO: 9001 and National Safety and Quality in Health Service Standards. These standards ensure that patient safety and risk prevention strategies are in place during your stay. The day hospital is currently licensed to operate five overnight beds with a view to increase to nine beds. The hospital is wholly owned by the South Burnett Community Hospital Foundation Limited and operated by the South Bank Day Hospital.
