PJ DAY 2025! National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your favourite pair of PJ's to help The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness and funds for children in foster care.

By raising funds on National Pyjama Day, we are helping to offer learning skills to more than 1000 children, fund educational resources and help provide stable, positive relationships.

Thank you to everyone who wore their PJ’s last Friday and made a donation to this wonderful cause.

Miss Peta was very excited to set up an Early Childhood Educator stall at Kingaroy TAFE yesterday for the South Burnett Careers Expo.

To entice prospective educators, Miss Pete decided the high school students should learn through play, to best understand how children learn through play! She set up a slime tray with noodles, psyllium husks and chia seeds. Students had to work through the slime to find a hidden treasure… a lolly pop 🍭

The students, plus some of the other careers stall holders, and even Mayor, Kathy Duff had lots of laughs engaging in play.

How wonderful to think these students might become Quality Educators in the future ✨

•••🦖🦕 DINOSAURS! 🦕🦖•••
While completing a safety playground check, Miss Halie noticed some fallen winter branches in the playground, and decided to recycle them into a natural environment space - A Dinosaur Cave!

The children were excited to not only help build and shape the cave area in the playground, but they were very engaged in extending the experience into identifying and connecting the dinosaurs in our centre dinosaur books 📖 🦕🦖♥️

Every few months, Miss Peta sets the team up for an “anything but”day. Today at Goodstart Kingaroy, the theme for our staff was “anything but a water bottle”… As you can see, our team love to join in the fun, use their creativity and have some giggles.

Uplifting the team morale is always essential in Early Childhood Education. This ensures we are focused and positive each day to support and educate Australia’s greatest resource: your children 💛

South Burnett Families are invited to please join us for a Kindergarten 2026 parent information session on Wednesday 28th May 2025 from 5:00pm to 5:30pm.

Come along to learn more about our 2026 Kindergarten Program, and how we can support your child to thrive and get ready for school. We will be discussing our program and curriculum for next year, and you will also have an opportunity to meet and chat with our Kindergarten teacher.

With great pleasure we would like to congratulate our amazing Miss Gemma, on achieving her full Proficient Accreditation as an Early Childhood Teacher in QLD!

At Goodstart, we celebrate a continual movement toward greater practice, and achieving proficient accreditation is a part of this process. It enables wider collaboration with the teaching profession, contributes to the respect and promotion of the profession and influences leadership. Ultimately accreditation supports better outcomes for our children as our teachers strengthen their unique skills, knowledge and standards required to teach.

In QLD, teachers are provisionally accredited for 3 years after graduating with their teaching degree. As part of their pathway to becoming a proficient accredited teacher, they are required to demonstrate that they meet all 7 Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the proficient level.

As you can imagine, much time and effort go into the development of the necessary skills and knowledge to be considered a ‘proficient’ teacher. When confident that they are ready, teachers must go through a process of evaluation with the Teacher Accreditation and Registration Lead and their Teacher Accreditation and Registration Partner in consultation with their Centre Director to ensure they are meeting all 7 standards are at the proficient level.

As you can see, this is no easy feat! Gemma has worked full time tirelessly to support her professional growth as a Teacher in the Early Childhood Industry. We value her commitment to this role as well as the respectful relationships she has with our children, families and team.

Goodstart Kingaroy was extremely exciting to have Mrs BB from Kingaroy State School come into the centre today as our very special guest speaker for National Simultaneous Storytime! This year’s book was “The Truck Cat” written by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell 🛻🐈

National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 25th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum.

Thank you to Mrs BB for sharing her incredible storytelling abilities (and dress up skills) with our Kindergarten 2 Room, and helping our centre participate in this wonderful national event ♥️
