It’s Child Protection Week and at Goodstart Safeguarding Children is everyone’s responsibility – all the time!

Goodstart embeds child safety into everything we do from how we create our learning environments to how we recruit, train and supervise our people – we go beyond compliance, but we know there is always more we can do.

This Child Protection Week we are committed to shifting conversation to action.

You can learn more about the actions we take to safeguard children from abuse, neglect and harm everyday: https://brnw.ch/21wVycI

This week was Tongan Language Week! 🇹🇴
The theme for this year was ‘Ko 'etau lea, ko e fe’unu mahu’inga ia ki he mo’ui ‘a e Tonga - Our language is a vital strand of our Tongan culture.’

The whole centre at Goodstart Kingaroy was very privileged to have Miss Vika and her daughter Lea visit all the rooms in their traditional clothes, to share a story, song and dance with with all our children.

Miss Vika says “Family, Culture and God are the 3 core values followed within all Tongan culture around the world. We share our stories and connect through singing and dancing. Tongan traditions are passed down through all our generations. The dance that Lea preformed for all our children was a dance I was taught when I was a young girl.”

The children and staff were simply mesmerised by their performance.

Thank you Miss Vika and Lea for sharing your culture and story with us - Oku mau loto hounga ia (we are grateful) 💛

What a fantastic week! So many books, stories, characters and costumes shared! A huge thank you to our children, parents and staff for such an incredible effort ♥️

Did you know? Children that read at least 20 minutes each day will get exposure to around 2 million words each year! When we raise readers, we prepare children to become lifelong learners, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to navigate the world effectively.

••📚 Book Week ~ Part 1 📚••

Some incredible costumes have come through the centre so far this week! A huge thank you to our wonderful families and staff for helping us highlight the incredible adventure that is reading ♥️

Did you know? Books contain many words that children are unlikely to encounter frequently in spoken language. Children’s books actually contain 50% more words that children are likely to come across than in regular conversation or on tv.

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” - Walt Disney

PJ DAY 2025! National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your favourite pair of PJ's to help The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness and funds for children in foster care.

By raising funds on National Pyjama Day, we are helping to offer learning skills to more than 1000 children, fund educational resources and help provide stable, positive relationships.

Thank you to everyone who wore their PJ’s last Friday and made a donation to this wonderful cause.

Miss Peta was very excited to set up an Early Childhood Educator stall at Kingaroy TAFE yesterday for the South Burnett Careers Expo.

To entice prospective educators, Miss Pete decided the high school students should learn through play, to best understand how children learn through play! She set up a slime tray with noodles, psyllium husks and chia seeds. Students had to work through the slime to find a hidden treasure… a lolly pop 🍭

The students, plus some of the other careers stall holders, and even Mayor, Kathy Duff had lots of laughs engaging in play.

How wonderful to think these students might become Quality Educators in the future ✨

•••🦖🦕 DINOSAURS! 🦕🦖•••
While completing a safety playground check, Miss Halie noticed some fallen winter branches in the playground, and decided to recycle them into a natural environment space - A Dinosaur Cave!

The children were excited to not only help build and shape the cave area in the playground, but they were very engaged in extending the experience into identifying and connecting the dinosaurs in our centre dinosaur books 📖 🦕🦖♥️

Every few months, Miss Peta sets the team up for an “anything but”day. Today at Goodstart Kingaroy, the theme for our staff was “anything but a water bottle”… As you can see, our team love to join in the fun, use their creativity and have some giggles.

Uplifting the team morale is always essential in Early Childhood Education. This ensures we are focused and positive each day to support and educate Australia’s greatest resource: your children 💛
