Everything old is new again!

Everything old is new again!

Before parents questioned ingredient labels, before “whole foods” entered everyday language, before anyone thought to ask what processed meant for a growing body, one woman was already sounding the alarm.

Her name was Adelle Davis.

In the early 1950s, America was celebrating convenience. Baby food came in jars. Formula was marketed as modern. Additives were framed as progress. Doctors reassured parents that science had solved nutrition.

Adelle Davis was not convinced.

In 1951, she published Let’s Have Healthy Children, and in doing so, she quietly disrupted how an entire generation thought about feeding babies and children.

Her message was radical for its time.

Children are not small adults.
Nutrition in infancy shapes a lifetime.
Fresh, natural foods matter.

Davis warned against refined sugars, artificial additives, and overly processed baby foods long before regulation or public awareness caught up. She argued that convenience was being prioritized over health, and that growing bodies needed vitamins, minerals, and whole nutrients that could not be engineered into jars and powders.

This was not popular.

The food industry pushed back. Medical authorities dismissed her as alarmist. Advertisers ridiculed the idea that mothers should question products labeled “scientific” and “doctor approved.”

Adelle Davis did not back down.

She spoke directly to parents, especially mothers, who were expected to follow instructions rather than trust their instincts. She treated them as intelligent partners in their children’s health, not passive consumers. She explained nutrition in clear, practical language, empowering families to make informed choices instead of obedient ones.

Her books became bestsellers.

Not because she frightened people.
Because she respected them.

Davis emphasized fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, adequate protein, and proper vitamin intake at a time when deficiency related illnesses were quietly common. She linked poor nutrition to fatigue, developmental issues, and long term health problems long before those connections were widely accepted.

What made her influence lasting was not just what she warned against.

It was what she affirmed.

That mothers’ observations mattered.
That prevention was as important as treatment.
That health begins long before illness appears.

Decades later, many of her ideas became mainstream. Label transparency. Reduced additives. Emphasis on whole foods. Nutritional awareness in early childhood. Entire movements grew around principles she had been mocked for articulating.

She did not live to see full vindication. Adelle Davis died in 1974. But her fingerprints are everywhere.

Every parent who questions a label.
Every conversation about ultra processed foods.
Every insistence that children deserve real nourishment.

She challenged a system that told families to stop thinking and start buying. She reminded them that health is not something you outsource entirely to corporations or trends.

It is something you protect.

Adelle Davis did not just write about nutrition.

She restored agency to parents.
She centered children’s long term wellbeing.
She made it acceptable to ask hard questions about what we feed the most vulnerable among us.

In a culture rushing toward convenience, she insisted on care.

And that insistence changed everything.

🌑 New Moon in Capricorn ♑

The New Moon in Capricorn is here — inviting us to focus on home, structure, and work. With the New Moon conjunct the personal planets and Pluto, nothing is overlooked. This is powerful energy for deep intention-setting and long-term planning.

Now is the time to set your goals for the year ahead — the kind that build stability, purpose, and lasting success. Clear your space, refresh your home, and cleanse with high-quality incense to release what no longer serves you.

Create space. Set intentions. Ground your vision.
✨ You’re setting the foundations for 2026.
