We understand and teach that every change and improvement that happens in the body, must first begin within the mind. We recognise that health and happiness doesn't come from a number on the scales, or from the size pants you fit into: health and happiness is a state of mind. Scientists and medical experts are now discovering the astronomical impact that the mind has on the body. Our life experience in the health and fitness world has taught us just how true this is. Many people come come to us struggling to achieve their fitness goals; some get off to a great start but find their success is short lived. Others put in so much effort to their training but self-sabotage through other destructive habits. After seeing these kinds of things happening to our clients we knew there was more to health, than just the body. Knowing that we had the foundational basics of training and fitness down pat, but we needed to understand the mental and emotional impacts of wellbeing and how the mind works, seen Courtney upskill and train in Neuro-Linguistic Programming - becoming a certified Master Practitioner and coach of NLP and through this modality, learnt how to emotionally support and coach members to better health, both mentally and physically. Using the techniques and tools that Courtney has studied and embodied within herself, Mind and Body Fitness member’s experience a greater level of well-being, fitness and overall general health. Because at M&BF we train and support our members at an emotional and mental level, the connections and relationships we build really create an atmosphere of trust and family. We are not concerned with outward appearances, but rather what’s happening for you on the inside. We strive to offer a gym that has a supportive, approachable and family based atmosphere. Members can join in on our variety of programs such as our group fitness classes which include HIIT, Boxing, Strength and Conditioning, Sh1ft, BodyCombat and many more. If you’re after something more specific - We also offer our very popular Six to Success program, which focuses both on mindset and weight-loss. We also have our 24 hour gym available. We literally have something for everyone! Exclusively we also offer a mindset breakthrough program online, through a group coaching method, or if groups just aren’t your thing, we can offer you a personal one on one 6 week breakthrough experience. In all of our sessions, in both mind and body - we incorporate something new, fun and challenging to keep you on your toes, starve off boredom and keep your fitness from becoming stale, mundane and repetitive. As a Personal Trainer and gym owner, I see firsthand just how closely movement and mental health are connected.

Exercise isn’t just about getting stronger or fitter — it’s a powerful tool for supporting our minds, improving mood, building resilience, and creating routine when life feels heavy.

I also understand that when someone is struggling with their mental health, showing up can feel incredibly hard. Sometimes the very thing that could help, is the first thing to be let go of — and that’s never a judgment, just a reminder of how tough those moments can be.

What I’ve learned over the years is that healing doesn’t come from exercise alone. It comes from connection. From community. From being seen, supported, and surrounded by people who genuinely care. Moving together, sharing space, and knowing you belong can be just as powerful for your mental health as the workout itself.

If you’re finding things hard right now, please know you’re not alone — and you’re always welcome here, exactly as you are.

🤶🌲🎁 Over the last 12 days we have been running a 12 days of Christmas competition. 1 person who completed the most classes in 12 days, won a $150 Intersport Voucher & the other a lucky dip, winning $250 in vouchers.

Here are our lucky (and very hard working!) WINNERS🏆

Casey, winning the Intersport voucher for most classes. 24 classes in 12 days.... you do the math 👏 💪 Such an amazing effort!

Lilian winning $250 worth of vouchers, including Cellarbrations, Aura Massage & Seven Monks. Even though Lilians winnings were drawn from a hat, she is very deserving as she has been working super hard in classes but also either doing a PT session before or after her class (Thats tough!)

👊 Why do you love it?
It reminds me I can fight through anything, inside and outside of the gym and it’s just a whole amazing vibe!

😎 What is your motivation for working out?
The gym is where I push through stress and all the tough stuff life throws at me (Trust me there’s a lot) It’s not just about the fitness or looks, it’s about showing up even when things feel heavy. It’s my therapy, my outlet, and my biggest investment in myself.

I’ve been a 6am class legend coming up on 6 years :)

The wonderful community and the absolutely beautiful friends I have made. It sure makes it easier to work out at 6am when you have this crew behind you! And I’ve gotta shout out the best trainer in Launceston, Courtney! She’s the heart and soul of M&BF 🥰

🗣 What is your advice for someone wanting to join M&BF but may be feeling a bit anxious?
Just take that first step! The M&BF way is about support, encouragement and care. We want you to succeed. Show up for yourself, talk and share experiences with others, focus on the small wins and you’ll be surprised how quickly M&BF feels like home to you too! :)

Our Story

Courtney and Mick Phillips are both Launceston based Personal Trainers who like to think outside the box.

Here at Mind & Body Fitness, we truly BELIEVE that you are not just a body. You are a MIND, and you are a BODY. We need to look after both components for ourselves, for overall health, our well-being and for our happiness and that is where Courtney and Mick come in.

Who are your trainers here at Mind & Body Fitness? Courtney and Mick have a wide range of achievements both personal and professional, qualifications and life experiences that make them the unique and outstanding personal trainers that they are today. They are parents, husband and wife, friends... a team. But most importantly they have both worked hard over the years to create something special within the Mind and Body Fitness community.

Courtney and Mick have a genuine care for all members, their goals, their needs and want to see everyone who walks through the doors of M&BF happy, healthy and living their best life. They have the passion, the drive and their own personal experiences that will help you to power along through your own health, wellness and fitness journey.
