Hey everyone! Just passing on a message from MedFac about an exciting new initiative aimed at increasing surgical exposure, teaching, and mentorship.

"A Day with a Surgeon" will pair students with consultant surgeons in a specialty of their interest for a day in their private operating theatres and/or rooms. This will provide students a unique opportunity to gain insight into the daily life and work of a surgeon, encounter surgical diseases and operations not typically seen on regular placements in the public hospital, and receive invaluable one-on-one mentorship.

This program is available for Phase 3 students on their Surgery, Selective and Elective terms at POW, St Vincent's, St George and some Rural Clinical Campuses.

For more information please see the linked flyer: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1idt0aHca5RH6AV_vSoqZtvXVzlNfW70C/view?usp=sharing

To sign up, please email the relevant clinical campus:

Hi everyone, another similar message, but this time for the RACS General Surgery Fellowship exam:

We are looking for volunteers to act as marshals for the upcoming General Surgery Clinical / Viva Fellowship Exam.

It is a great opportunity to see how the exam is conducted and witness this final hurdle for surgical trainees.

Dates
- Friday 13th September - AM + PM
- Saturday 14th September - AM + PM
- Sunday 15th September - PM

Location
- Cliftons Sydney CBD
- Karstens Sydney CBD

Even if you’re only able to volunteer for one day it would be greatly appreciated by ourselves and the exam candidates - the smooth running of the exam is largely dependent on volunteers giving up their time to help out

If you are able to help, Dr James Pasch is the exam co-ordinator this year and he can be contacted via email (james.pasch@gmail.com).
