Let’s take about the Osteoporosis in Women🫣. Why you should care?
⏳ 🦴 Bone mineral density naturally decreases with age and Osteoporosis is the number one cause for fractures in women over the age of 50!
The causes are multivariable but are often linked to hormonal changes, lifestyle factors, genetics, certain medications such as corticosteroids, nutrition etc. Bones are living tissue and are constantly being broken down and rebuilt, they need adequate nutrition and the correct stimuli to be able to be built back strong!
So, how do you combat Osteoporosis and maintain healthy bones?
✔️ Healthy bone mineral density prevents fractures and the only proven way to do this is through loading the bones with mechanical tension with resistance training and weight training.
✔️ Medications are also available to help maintain bone mineral density and also prevent further damage.
The 🔑 key here is recognising the importance of loading the bones through weight training and resistance training. This is best done supervised if you are new to exercise.
