Ukata Asana = Fierce Pose

🔥Fierce embodies qualities of passion, intensity, and fire; these are all the elements of utkatasana.

If we are only teaching with English, these elements of the asana get lost in translation.

Sanskrit is so much more than language, it’s a vibration, it’s a wisdom and it’s a form that brings to life the story of the practice ✨

I LOVE teaching with Sanskrit - it gives each moment so much more meaning. I am not ignorant enough to think that my pronunciation is perfect! Language matters and I want to give context to the practice beyond the physicality.

Do you use, know or teach with Sanskrit names?

Put simply, without women - none of us would be here!

It has been the greatest honour to sit amongst and hold space for so many women over my lifetime; may we continue to hold each other in high esteem and continue our re-emergence today and every damn day💫

After 17 years as a prenatal yoga specialist and birth educator, I’m evolving my prenatal teacher training one again to become BREATHE + BLOOM: A 40 hour Prenatal Teacher Training.

This round includes a fully integrated Yoga for Active Birth module plus an enriched and updated exploration of the physiology of pregnancy and birth.

I’m so looking forward to sharing these expanded tools, insights and evidence-informed practices with my next training cohort this March.

We are already at 50% full, so book soon to secure a spot.

This woman was incredibly captivating. Although she spoke no words, her eyes said everything. Her presence was powerful and yet soft, and as she sat and absorbed there was a knowing and a wisdom that few me to her. When I looked into her eyes, I felt as though she was looking right at my soul.

The Temple Priestess

Honestly I felt as though I could not take my eyes off her and after so long, I asked if I could take her picture.

This is one of those moments from travel, that stays etched in fabric of your being. ✨

🚨 THE SILENT KILLER IN OUR BUSH

Look closely at this image. These 16 Masked Owls represent a grim reality: every single one of these birds tested by scientists died after exposure to household rat poisons.

New research from Edith Cowan University (ECU) has revealed a disturbing trend. Scientists found toxic or lethal levels of Second-Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides (SGARs) in all 16 dead owls tested from the South West and metropolitan Perth.

How is this happening?
It is called secondary poisoning. These heavy-duty baits, especially those containing Brodifacoum, do not just kill the rodent. They stay active in the animal's system for a long time. When our native owls, eagles, or even family pets eat these poisoned rodents, the toxins move up the food chain. This causes the predator to suffer from prolonged internal bleeding and an agonizing death.

The Political Fight:
While many countries banned the public sale of these poisons years ago, they are still freely available on our supermarket shelves. Common brands to look out for include Talon, Tomcat II, Ditrac, Ratsak, and Surefire.

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is currently reviewing these regulations. However, the proposed changes have been labeled inadequate by conservationists as they allow these deadly baits to remain on public sale. Local leaders are now stepping up: the Town of Bassendean recently moved a unanimous motion at WALGA demanding the permanent withdrawal of all SGAR products from public sale.

What you can do to protect your backyard:

- Check your cupboards: Avoid any baits with Brodifacoum or Bromadialone.

- Use safe alternatives: Stick to snap traps or First-Generation baits (like those containing Warfarin or Coumatetralyl).

- Remove the attraction: Keep your yard tidy, secure compost heaps, and seal up holes in your roof or shed.

🤔 Are you shocked that these poisons are still legally sold at the local shops, or do you think they are necessary for pest control? Let us know your thoughts below.
