Council has received notification from Telstra of an upgrade to the Kingston mobile base station, that is scheduled to occur on Tuesday 27 January and may cause some disruptions to businesses and households for 2-3 days.

*Please see Telstra advice of how to stay connected during this outage timeframe in post below.

While this will be an inconvenience during this time, the upgrade should provide enhanced coverage for our community and address connectivity issues previously experienced.

We thank Telstra for prioritising these important upgrade works for Kingston ahead of many other communities around Australia.

Telstra Network Disruption Advice - Planned Outage

Telstra will be upgrading its mobile base station that services Kingston to bring a better 4G & 5G user experience.

Mobile services in the area will be temporarily affected while the upgrade works are underway.

Temporary disruptions:
Telstra mobile customers will receive texts advising of the upcoming work.
Landline services, NBN and Satellite internet services, and mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted.

Any calls to Triple Zero from a Telstra mobile when the site is off air will automatically connect to another mobile network if available for connection to emergency services.

The site will need to be switched off during the following periods:

· 26th Jan - Prep work during daylight hours
· 27th Jan till 29th Jan - Full Site outage
· 30th & 31st Jan - During daylight hours

📣Tips for improving connectivity while works are underway📣

Telstra customers can continue to make calls and send texts during disruption to mobile services by switching on Wi-Fi Calling. This is a free setting on most popular mobile phones and allows your mobile to make and receive mobile calls while connected to Wi-Fi.

We also encourage business owners talk to their bank about connecting their EFTPOS terminals to their NBN or Wi-Fi connection to prevent delays in processing transactions.

The Kingston Retirement Village are currently selling their annual Australia Day raffle tickets today and tomorrow at the Kingston IGA, Star Pharmacy and Kingston Foodland.

If you miss out they will be back next week, Wednesday and Thursday at the same locations. 🇦🇺

Our upcoming Christmas Club Tea night is this Saturday 13th December at 6:30pm 🎄

Afternoon tea is available from 4pm, and our bar will be open too. Come along and celebrate the festive season at the only beachfront bar in Kingston! 🏖

The night's menu is chicken mini roasts or tenders served with roast potatoes and salads (green, strawberry spinach, pumpkin & proscuitto), along with Christmas pudding, pavlova, chocolate mousse and jellied strawberries with iceacream for dessert.

We are excited to welcome aidacare today to the Kingston Retirement Village. Paul and Corey will be at the village for the next 2 days (Wednesday and Thursday) between 10am - 3pm.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to have access to view and trial their equipment.

They have beds, recliners, walkers, gophers, scooters and many other aids to make life more comfortable.
