🌿
Thanks to everyone that came to my last workshop for the year; tea blending for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

We had some great discussions and made teas to help with rage, irritability, sleeplessness, and more.

Looking forward to repeating this one next year for those that missed out.

Just a little post to say that gut issues dont have to be permanent!
Often the missing link to your recurring symptoms is stress management. For some people this is more important than for others. I find that people often assume straight away they have parasites -- or-- they just put up with their symptoms because nothing seems to work.

If you are frequently bloated that is a sign that things are not quite right with your gut and this can impact your energy, mental health and fertility. Stress hormones have interesting effects on your gut health and all your other hormones and their ability to 'mess things up' should not to be underestimated.

Are you struggling with recurring gut issues like gas, bloating, pain, discomfort, and unpredictable bowel movements? Probiotics may certa...

What is Health?

I have worked in the health space for a long time and its certainly not limited to a combination of exercise, good food, nutrients and herbs..although these things are still essential

Ultimately, I think health is happiness. But how do we get there? Other than taking a saffron shot and doing a pilates class :)

Here are the four things that I consider to be essential for long term happiness and healing. Im sure there are more. And hey this is an open conversation, so would love to hear your thoughts.

1. Diversity. I have learnt that the pendulum will always swing. It's helpful to not have extreme diets, views, perceptions or extremes of anything really. Diversity helps us to achieve balance

2. Creativity. This is one that is higher up on our hierarchy of needs. As in, we need to have the basics right for creativity to truly blossom. So having a stable relationship, homelife and food on the table precedes being able to get into our creative flow. I honestly believe that creativity is the key to hormone balancing. What do you think?

3. Acknowledgement. My mantra as a healer has always been that 'healing is acknowledgement'. This can be of anything. Of the stories we tell ourselves that keep us feeling small, or the respect or lack of that we have for our environment or relationships. sometimes we just need to listen and observe without reacting. Thats actually the key! And this is what I do in my healing practice when I help people release their bodies holding patterns.

4. Connection. Is this something you prioritise? As a migrant who has moved around ALOT, and is also quite shy and reserved, connection is something that I have really learnt to prioritise. Not just with people but with the land that I live on. This has helped me ground and find meaning. What do you do to connect?

Herbs from the garden and how I use them.
#1 Sage. Salvia officinalis

+Sore throat remedy
+Hot flushes
+Excessive sweating/ dampness
+Gut, urinary, and respiratory infections
+Nervous system restorative
+Poor memory (brain health)

I am planning to make some throat lozenges with this bunch and maybe a tea for someone I know who is a bit stressed, not sleeping well and has a cold damp cough.

What do you eat when you are pregnant?

To help create the wonderful new life growing inside of me I have been focusing on the following things.

+Diet diversity - for a broad range of essential nutrients
+High quality {organic and free range} animal products - to make sure I get plenty of DHA, Choline, Zinc, Iron and B12
+Lots of green leafy veg - to ensure I keep up my folate and iron stores
+Lots of calcium rich foods such as green leafies, tahini, and sardines

Here is some pics of the kinds of food that are sustaining me and bub atm.
~ Beach picnic with friends = chickpea pasta salad
~ Breakfast Congee = mungbean congee with Sesame and beetroot pickle
~ Afternoon treat = egg custard with fruit and hempseeds.

I am getting lots of inspiration from the wonderful book '9 Golden Months'.

If you are pregnant I highly recommend this book for the nourishing words and recipes
