Santosha Yoga Australia

Santosha Yoga Australia Santosha Yoga Australia offers Gentle, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga classes in Kingston and Kettering. We help you slow down, find calmness and connect to your Self.

Santosha Yoga Australia (Santosha) is your sanctuary from the rush and pressure of everyday life. We help you find tranquility and peace-of-mind through the practice of yoga, breath work (pranayama) and meditation. We offer yoga to suit every body. It doesn't matter if you are fit or not, flexible or not, a beginner or experienced yoga student. Yoga can help you reduce stress, build strength and f

lexibility, and improve your overall wellbeing. We believe strongly in finding balance in life, and so we practice vinyasa or flow yoga (a stronger or more yang style of yoga) as well as yin yoga (a softer and more meditative style of yoga). Vinyasa is a dynamic flowing style of yoga that will help you build strength, improve your flexibility and connect with your breath. Yin is all about softening, releasing tension and finding stillness. What does Santosha mean? Santosha (pronounced san-toe-sha) is the Sanskrit word for contentment. It is our belief that the practice of contentment, gratitude and acceptance are the keys to finding happiness from within. These are our core values, and they underpin everything we do. Santosha was founded by Danielle Bendall. Danielle first started practicing yoga in 2003, because she wanted to find tools to help quieten her constantly busy mind. She quickly found that stepping onto her mat allowed her to calm down and find stillness in her mind – if only for brief moments! Over the years as her practice became more regular Danielle noticed the additional strength, flexibility, energy and overall vitality that yoga provided. Danielle undertook her 200 hour teaching qualification with Power Living Australia Yoga, under the guidance of Duncan Peak. She has gone on to learn from many great local and international teachers including Jennifer Crescenzo, Sarah Powers, Simon Park, Leslie Kaminoff, Maty Ezraty and Donna Farhi. Her classes are authentic, open and personal. Danielle will help guide you to quieten the mind, tune in to the inner world, and bring the body, breath and mind into greater harmony.

The highlight reel of my speech at Santosha’s 10th birthday.

I shared the story of how it all began.
How I never wanted my own business.
Of how yoga was meant to be a short term thing to assist my tree change.

And of how I never expected to love being a teacher so much.

There were special mentions and the announcement of which charity/ies would be the beneficiaries of our fundraiser.

If you want the full 16 minute version then head to the blog or you toob.

This one is for my fellow yoga teachers and small business operators. Which one resonates with you the most?

What is the definition of home?

Do you think of home as the place you grew up?

Or the place that you’ve chosen to make your life?

Or perhaps it is the feeling of fully inhabiting your body.

This week marks 10 years since I moved to Tasmania, after spending most of my life in Melbourne.

As I flew into Melbourne last week I noticed myself thinking of it as my hometown.

And yet every time I crest the hill coming into Hobart and get that first glimpse of the mountain, there’s an undeniable feeling of coming home.

I guess it’s one of those plural truths: there is more than one answer.

I’d love to know: how do you define home?

I’m so grateful for the beautiful souls that attended the Tassie Glamping Retreat this past weekend.

Neither images or words can adequately convey how special they are. But some words from the participants themselves can give you a glimpse:

“A place and space that embraces all the tones between the black and white…a place and space of connection and love”

“Danielle provided gentle guidance that challenged us to think, feel and experience how we connect with ourselves”

“What a profound way to spend the weekend”

Our next retreat is in Bali in June. Only a few places left.

The kids/grandkids are back to school - now it's time to take a breather!
Join us this Sunday for 90 minutes of Restorative Yoga, followed by a cuppa and chat.

The practice of Restorative yoga is one of deep rest and relaxation. It is designed to restore your nervous system and energy levels. A highly meditative practice, we stay in poses for long periods of quiet contemplation. We use props to help find comfort and ease in poses. Absolutely no experience necessary.
