Term 2 at Base Movement School was all about athletic development principles applied through other disciplines! 🎉 We integrated two key training approaches:

🤸 Gymnastics Block: Beyond traditional movements, we built full-body tension, overhead strength (think handstands!), dynamic control in tumbling, and grip strength. These skills directly enhance force transfer, body control, and injury resilience in sport.

🏃‍♂️ Athletics Focus: We adapted specialist techniques for sprinting (4-point starts), jumping (triple jump mechanics, quick ground contact), and throwing (lower-to-upper body force transfer). This refined essential movement patterns for power and control.

Incredible growth from everyone this term!

We looking forward to doing it all again in term 3 after the break, starting with Olympic lifting

We’ve just launched the Base Athlete Partnership Program.

It’s built for athletes who are pushing to compete at a high level but don’t always have access to the kind of structure, support, and care that can make the difference.

We’re offering full access to our gym, field, and Pilates sessions, regular testing and check-ins with our coaching team, and physio support when it’s needed — all at a reduced cost as part of the program.

Hi Base community! Just a quick update - Base Gym will be closed over the Easter Monday and ANZAC day Public Holidays next week. These are on Monday (21/4) and Friday (25/4), so there will be no sessions on those days.

To make sure you still get your training in, we’ve adjusted our Base Gym schedule to the following:

📅 Tuesday 22/4
AM: 8:00 to 11:00 am
PM: 3:30 to 7:30 pm

📅 Wednesday 23/4
AM: 8:00 to 11:00 am
PM: 3:30 to 7:30 pm

📅 Thursday 24/4
AM: 8:00 to 10:00 am
PM: 3:30 to 7:30 pm

📅 Monday 26/4
AM: 8:00 to 11:00 am

Hi Base community! Just a quick update - Base Gym will be closed over the Easter long weekend on Friday (18/4) and Saturday (19/4), so there will be no sessions on those days.

To make sure you still get your training in, we’ve matched our usual number of sessions across the week with the following schedule:

📅 Monday 14/4
AM: 7:30 to 9:00 am
PM: 3:00 to 7:30 pm

📅 Tuesday 15/4
AM: 8:00 to 11:00 am
PM: 3:30 to 7:30 pm

Say hi to our newest Physio, Lucy! 👋

Lucy joins the team with a strong passion for helping people recover and get back to what they love most. With experience in sports and rehab—including coaching rowing and working as a trainer at Collingwood FC—she brings a great mix of hands-on knowledge and evidence-based treatment to Base.

You’ll see Lucy in the clinic and out in the community, so be sure to say hi and make her feel welcome!
