One of the hardest lessons that empaths have to learn is that other people won’t behave the way they will.

Time and time again an empath ends up in a repetitive cycle that starts with “oh no they wouldn’t do that to me” and becomes, “they will see what they’ve done and come around” until it’s “oh well, I know that deep down they can’t be happy, what they have done will keep them up at night”

But it doesn’t. Because not only do these people actually do the things that you wouldn’t dream of doing, but they won’t self reflect or critically look at it from your perspective and finally they recreate a narrative where they were the hard done by one’s, so not only do they miss no sleep, sleep like a baby in fact, but they sleep like a baby who cries out over being a victim.

And most of the time they die believing that narrative.

In one of the last voice notes that my dearly departed friend sent me, she said “you always expect people to act the way you would in these situations, but they just don’t”

If you find giving and caring and understanding effortless, then please do me a favor and give yourself the strongest boundaries and remember that often the hardest people to put boundaries in with, are the ones who need them the most.
