Sensational Kids OT is a unique OT business that offers specialised therapy to children with a range of learning, sensory & motor challenges.

At ‘Sensational Kids OT’ we aim to maximise each child’s potential and to support their development through a motivational framework of play. We have a strong focus on family-centred practice and encourage family participation, providing opportunities for ‘hand’s-on’ learning experiences within each session. We deliver individualized programs and aim to work with each child and family to facilitate their success and independence. Our therapy and intervention is based on the principles of Sensory Processing Theory, DIR®-Floortime™ (Greenspan & Wieder) and the SOS Feeding Approach.

🎨✨ These holidays in our Creative Art Groups, from painting and sculpting to ceramics, our kids explored, created, and connected in ways that go far beyond the artwork. Through hands-on making, they were building fine motor skills, planning and problem-solving, sensory regulation, emotional expression, and confidence — all while sharing ideas, supporting each other, and taking pride in what they created. Art becomes the bridge between creativity and skill-building, and it’s always a joy to watch it come to life 💛

🎭🐴✏️ From theatre productions to school readiness and equine therapy, last week had it all.

While the activities may look different, the heart of what we do stays the same.

At the core of every group and session is thoughtfully matching supports to the needs of the child, recognising and celebrating their strengths, and gently growing the skills they’re working towards.

All of this sits within a framework of sound therapeutic reasoning and yes, it’s always sprinkled with fun ✨

In our Gooey Science Group, mess, connection, problem-solving, creativity, and regulation all come together as kids explore, experiment, and learn through doing.

🍓🥕 Food Explorers in action! 🥨🍊

In our Food Explorers group, it’s not all about eating; it’s about exploring.
Touching, smelling, playing, interacting, and building positive experiences with food in a safe, pressure-free way.

We’re busy working on the base levels of the 32 Steps of Eating, because when children feel comfortable engaging with food, eating can follow in its own time.

✨ When feelings show up, they’re not a problem to fix, they’re an opportunity. ✨

Big feelings give us a chance to pause, notice, and grow.

They invite us to slow down, ask for support, and practise skills that build resilience over time.

When we sit with emotions (rather than rushing to make them disappear), children can:

~ Strengthen their problem-solving skills

~ Learn how to pause and regulate

~ Practise asking for help from trusted people

~ Give their “wise owl” brain a chance to have a say

~ Build the pathway of working through challenges, not just jumping to solutions

This is the work of nervous systems learning safety, flexibility, and trust. And it doesn’t happen in one moment; it happens through repeated, supported experiences. 💛

At SKOT, we value the process just as much as the outcome. Because feelings aren’t failures, they’re part of learning how to be human.

💚 The Green Creepers – Camp Connect 2025

Our Green Creepers moved through camp with curiosity, courage, and a quiet determination that grew stronger each day. They were the thinkers and the doers, the ones who took their time to plan, collaborate, and then leap into action when the moment felt right.

This group thrived on activities that asked them to think as much as move, working together to problem-solve, adapt, and find new ways to meet challenges. They learned how to listen to their own bodies, match their energy to the group, and discover how movement, connection, and shared purpose can bring out the best in everyone.

Through their teamwork, persistence, and sense of fun, the Green Creepers reminded us that growth often happens in the moments between stillness and action, when curiosity meets confidence.

For us as therapists, watching this team across the day gave such rich insight into how each child connects, self-regulates, and collaborates in real time. These moments outside the clinic help us continue shaping our therapy to meet their individual sensory, social, and emotional needs.

The Green Creepers crept steadily toward growth, connection, and joy and left us inspired every step of the way. 💚

Massive shout out to our amazing collaborators on this camp Lara & her team and the amazing staff who welcomed us to their site, creating a safe and fun space for each of our kids to thrive.

🌞 The Golden Crew – Camp Connect 2025

Our Golden Crew truly lived up to their name this week, shining bright in every way! ✨

They came to camp ready to connect, explore, and stretch themselves; physically, emotionally, and socially. Each day, they tested their capacities, found moments to regulate their bodies, and embraced challenges that pushed them just a little further while meeting their individual needs.

What stood out most was their connection, the way they laughed together, supported one another, and celebrated every small success as a team. Through these moments, they reminded us how powerful it is when children feel safe, seen, and supported.

For us as therapists, camp offers such a special 360° view of each child ; how they move, connect, problem-solve, and recover across the day. These insights help us continue to refine what we do in the clinic, ensuring our therapy truly meets their evolving needs.

The Golden Crew didn’t just participate; they shone, and we couldn’t be prouder. 💛
