Get on board with the guilt. Avoiding the discomfort of boundary setting is setting you up to be passive, passive aggressive, or even aggressive. Tolerating discomfort is essential.

If you’ve been diagnosed ADHD, or suspect you have it, you will experience executive function difficulties. Here’s what that means:

- working memory (holding information while performing, short term)
- inhibition (controlling impulses and resisting distractions)
- cognitive flexibility (navigating changing situations)
- initiation (getting going)
- planning and organising (roadmapping your goals, foreseeing, being systematic)*
- time management (estimating, allocating and monitoring time effectively)
- emotional control (managing and regulating reactions)

*some of my ADHD clients overcompensate and become organisational superheroes with multiple diaries and lists
