Yesterday we celebrated Japan's 'Respect for the Aged Day' with a little cultural adventure of our own. Residents enjoyed an armchair travel trip to Kyoto, followed by freshly made sushi prepared by our lifestyle team.

In Japan, this special day is a national holiday dedicated to honouring the contributions of older people and celebrating the wisdom they bring to the community. We loved sharing this tradition together!

We recently celebrated Clarissa's incredible 100th birthday at Woolwich! While a planned high tea with staff and residents unfortunately had to be moved, Clarissa still enjoyed a special celebration in the School House with her family and a few staff.

A beautiful milestone for a remarkable lady.

Some of the ILU residents enjoyed a beautiful trip to Watsons Bay for lunch, travelling via Bondi Beach and taking in some sightseeing around Rose Bay, including a drive down Sydney’s richest street.

We also passed by the house where one of the residents had grown up. While the house had changed with the addition of an extra storey, the memories remained the same.

Our ILU residents celebrated June birthdays and hosted our Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, where we raised over $400 for the Cancer Council! ☕

Residents enjoyed a night tour of the city in all its glory for the annual VIVID festival of lights. From the cosy comfort of the JMV bus we took in the harbour views from Circular Quay, Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Blues Point and our beautiful local area of Kirribilli.

Our Woolwich residents had a great time on their bus trip to the beach. With the sun shining and a gentle breeze, it was the perfect day to be outdoors and enjoy the fresh air.
