🌟 Local Spotlight: Meet Elijah, Townsville’s Future Product Manager! 🌟

At just 15 years old, Elijah has a big dream, to one day become a freelance product manager. But he’s not waiting around for opportunities to fall into his lap. Instead, he’s rolling up his sleeves and getting started the good old-fashioned way, by working hard, saving, and building experience.

Right now, Elijah is running his own window cleaning service around Townsville. He’s been knocking on doors, visiting local businesses, and pitching his services with passion and determination. Every dollar he earns goes straight into his savings account to help fund his future career goals.

We love seeing young people with drive and ambition, and Elijah is proof that the next generation of Townsville locals is full of heart, hustle, and vision.

🌿 Meet Kirsti, one of our dedicated Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners here at Journey Connect.

Kirsti holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science and is completing her Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling. With experience in early childhood intervention and supporting adults with disability and mental health challenges, Kirsti brings a trauma-informed and person-centred approach to her work.

Her practice often incorporates play therapy and is grounded in empathy, warmth, and a commitment to fostering safe, supportive relationships for the people she works with. 💜

It’s Child Protection Week, and us Quokkas are all in for turning conversation into action! What better time to rally the community and stand up for our kids? Townsville’s got free crafty fun at the Townsville Shopping Centre in support of those most vulnerable in our community.

Further south, festivals and markets are popping like spring blossoms. If you’re wandering through Woodridge’s Global Food Market and spot a jackfruit big enough to host a picnic or a mangosteen that smells like a hug - don’t think, just nibble.

Core Supports - these are the everyday essentials that help you manage daily life. Think:

Consumables

Social & community participation

Capacity Building Supports - these are all about growth and independence. They focus on building new skills for the future, like:

Therapy and skill development (Improved Daily Living)

Behaviour support and relationships

Lifelong learning, job skills, housing, and more

💡 One big change: Therapy now sits under Capacity Building, not Core.

👉 Core = everyday supports | Capacity = skills for the future
