MayDay, MayDay! Calling amazing humans! It's time again for our next Support Worker recruitment drive.

Did you go or watch the Sydney Olympics? Did you listen to the Bangles or A-HA.. did you enjoy dancing along to Cotton eye Jo or even cheer on when Australia won the America's Cup?

Disability doesn't have an age - it doesn't stop when you turn 40, it doesn't go away and you don't 'get over' a disability like a cold. So this means people of ALL ages and stages can be great support workers. People who may not have experience as a Support Worker, but have awesome life experience make great support workers. Know someone with a few greys, loves to knit, or tells awesome Dad jokes? We want to talk to them!

We will have 2 dates in June for intake induction (full day paid), so get in quick as once we have filled all required spots, we close this window.

What can shame look like in behaviour?

It may present as denial, blaming, minimising, lying, or anger, not always as intentional defiance, but as a protective strategy when someone feels emotionally unsafe.

When we understand behaviour through a trauma-informed lens, we create opportunities for connection, regulation, and growth.

At Journey Connect, we believe behaviour makes sense when we understand the story behind it. šŸ’™

At Journey Connect’s NDIS Day Program this week, our participants explored creativity through colour, patterns, and shapes, turning simple materials into beautiful flowers and paper boats. šŸŒøā›µ

Activities like these support fine motor development, creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression, all while having fun in a supportive and social environment. Every creation tells its own story. šŸ’™

Big emotions can lead to quick reactions, that’s why simple, practical tools matter.

Our FREE STOP Strategy is a visual support designed to help children, teens, and adults pause, regulate, and make safer choices in the moment. A great resource for home, school, or support environments. šŸ’™

Save it, share it, or use it with someone who may benefit.

Today we’re celebrating a huge milestone for Kirsti Philpott šŸŽ“

Kirsti’s passion for supporting others, commitment to lifelong learning, and genuine care for the people she works alongside is something we see every day. We’re incredibly proud to have her as part of the team and can’t wait to see the impact she continues to make in the lives of others.
Congratulations, Kirsti — this is such a well-deserved achievement and we are all so proud of you today and everyday!

This week, our Day Program enjoyed a beautiful community outing to Tumbetin Tea Rooms, where participants took in the peaceful surroundings, shared great conversation, and admired the stunning stained glass throughout the space.

Inspired by what they discovered, the creativity continued back at the hub as everyone designed their own stained glass-inspired artworks—exploring colour, pattern, and self-expression while reflecting on their experience.

Our mural is almost complete… and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you šŸ‘€šŸŽØ
Inspired by life in North Queensland, every section tells a story, from the landscapes we love to the little moments that make this place so special. šŸŒ“ā˜€ļø
But there’s a fun twist… hidden throughout the mural are tiny ā€œWhere’s Wallyā€ characters waiting to be found šŸ”šŸ‘€
Next time you’re in, take a closer look and see how many you can spot!
We can’t wait to show you the final piece, it’s something really special šŸ’›

We just wanted to give a huge shout-out to Kirsti for her incredible work šŸ’™
Kirsti has been supporting a young participant with complex needs living in a foster home alongside other children. While supported by a caring family, there were significant challenges impacting daily life for everyone in the home.
Stepping in as the PBS clinician, Kirsti developed a thorough, high-quality Positive Behaviour Support Plan that was truly person-centred and tailored to the participant’s unique needs. Through her strong clinical knowledge and advocacy, she helped create meaningful, sustainable change for the participant and their support network.
This is what impactful, compassionate practice looks like, supporting not just the individual, but the whole environment around them. Your work is making a real difference, Kirsti šŸ‘
