Physiotherapists know how to dance and party after a conference, especially when it's 80s music and you grew up in the 1980s! Celebrating with some of our team of pelvic health physios on the APA Women's Men's and Pelvic Health Committee!

Working with Assoc. Prof. Emmanuel Karantanis is such a privilege. Emmanuel is so generous with his knowledge of obstetrics and urogynaecology, teaching myself and countless others.

I am so fortunate to have him to learn from so that we can help women prepare for birth and provide optimal antenatal and postnatal care.

Happy World Physio Day for yesterday! I've been a physiotherapist now for 25 years and I am so glad I chose this profession.

Jillian was my first ever senior in February 2000 when I was a first year grad! Irene was there too as our secretary from the beginning.
rach has been my fellow senior pelvic health physio since 2014, learning and laughing together through the years.

, and have all been part of my St George physio family too ☺️

I love my team, we work so well together and everyone really put the effort in today to become AAWC Premiers 2025!! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ™Œ

My last day at St George Public in the Pelvic Floor Unit after 11 years! I owe so much of my learning and development as a pelvic health physiotherapist to this place. I thank and the PFU staff for their generosity and kindness in educating me and countless others.

Seeing multidisciplinary management in practice was a gift and it was wonderful to learn in this environment.

I will continue to work with Assoc. Professor Karantanis in his rooms at St George Private 😊

This painting by Tsering Hannaford in the Archibald this year is a powerful portrait of a person with chronic pain. She painted it with her non-dominant hand after experiencing disabling wrist pain.

I like this quote by Hannaford:
'Art can have the power to transform suffering and, if anything, my experience with chronic pain has made me more sensitive to the challenges of others, and grateful for the blessings I do have.’

It was great catching up with at the APA Masterclass symposium to hear about cognitive functional therapy and the latest qualitative studies about physiotherapists and CFT.

I was fortunate enough to be part of the Restore back pain trial as a treating physio and was trained in CFT by Pete and JP Caneiro. It was a life changing experience for me, both as a clinician and individual. I am grateful I had this opportunity to be part of a landmark trial in back pain, published in The Lancet in 2022.

Doing a birth choices course by Taryn Hallam this weekend made me reflect on my own births. It is such an individual and emotional experience and 17 years ago we didn't have as much knowledge and information. I went to antenatal classes then but we have come a long way in terms of empowering women and giving them good information to make informed birth choices.

Working alongside obstetricians and midwives, it can be really helpful to see a pelvic health physio during pregnancy for an antenatal review, as well as a postnatal check up :-)
