ASK ME ABOUT LIPOEDEMA!!

This month at Equilibrium Physiotherapy we will be trying to raise awareness about Lipoedema.
It is a condition that affects 11% of women and is often misdiagnosed and misunderstood.

Lipoedema is characterized by a symmetrical abnormal accumulation of fatty tissue in the legs, and buttocks as well as the back of the arms in some people. It can cause pain, reduced mobility and swelling.

💙Happy World Lymphoedema Day!!🩵

Lymphoedema is commonly thought of as a condition related to cancer. But did you know it can also be caused by infection, vascular conditions, trauma or obesity? Some people may even be born with it. At Equilibrium Physiotherapy, approximately 40% of the Lymphoedema cases we see are non-cancer related.

Lymphoedema is an abnormal accumulation of fluid or swelling that can occur in any part of the body.
