Best Community Project in an Australia Day award, 2025 - awarded to the Griffith Trauma Teddies Knitters Club. Pat also received the Riverina Adult Volunteer of the Year Award. Big congratulations! 🎉

Pat established the Griffith Trauma Teddies Knitter’s Group to give comfort to children experiencing distress while in hospital or while being transported by ambulance.

The group has 30 members who have made 3,000 hand kitted and crocheted trauma teddies, sent by the Red Cross to local health services, neighbouring towns, interstate, and even sent overseas with aid workers to Gaza.

Pat and her team also turn donated and recycled wool into knitted blankets for local aged care facilities and the Griffith Cancer Care Unit.

Melva Robb, part of the Murrumbidgee Country Quilters Group at Griffith organised with her quilter’s group to donate 13 quilts to Bezzina House. 😍

We appreciate the time, love and care that has gone into each of these quilts which is absolutely amazing! The purple, blue, and green quilt was given to one of our long-term patients, who was in patient for more than 3 months. She absolutely adored it!

Dorothy & Brian bring all these items up from Tuross Head, on the South Coast of NSW.

These are all made by the lovely community of Tuross Head, and they get donated to different areas including New Borns at St George Hospital, the Dandelion Support Network at Taren Point, and to our patients at Bezzina House. 👏
