It can be argued that long term follow up is just as important as the operation itself. Weight loss management after all is a life-long commitment.

An analogy would be if you were to buy buy a manual car but then did not stick around to learn how to efficiently run through the gears, your car is never going to run as fast as it should.

Hear from Dr Cheng the four key aspects to why long term follow up is crucial:
✅ validating check points
✅ diet fine tuning and working on food psychology
✅ check on health and nutrition
✅ watch out for adverse symptoms and complications

Any patient that has been through the clinic will know that we take long term follow-up very seriously. No judgment, just pure help

If its been awhile, its never too late to catch up with your bariatric team!

Unfortunately gallstone formation can happen to 10% of patients who undergo weight loss surgery. It is reasonably common!

Gallstones can form after rapid weight loss due to changes in how the body processes cholesterol and bile.

Here's why it happens:
-> Rapid weight loss causes an imbalance of cholesterol and bile salts that leads to crystalization

-> Reduced Gallbladder Emptying - When you're eating much less, the gallbladder contracts less and there is more stasis which promotes stone formation

-> Imbalance in Bile Composition - Weight loss can disrupt the balance of substances in bile, increasing the risk of solid particles forming.

Who's at Higher Risk?
- People losing more than 3 pounds (1.5 kg) per week
- Those following very low-calorie diets (
