One of the best reports from Higgins Storm chasing 😂

The absolute *hit show wet weather will continue for Northern & Central NSW this week as yet another round of moderate to locally heavy Winter rain comes in. Most of these areas are staying proper saturated with flooding occurring very easily. For western districts the rain might be a bit more welcome....
A strong cold cored upper cut off low is located over NW NSW on the QLD border ATM. The system is sucking in large amounts of moisture today from the Tasman Sea which is causing coastal showers. Some storms with hail are likely inland this arvo.
Tomorrow & Thursday the system finds top gear like a V8 hitting 300 down Conrod Straight! Widespread rain areas and embedded storms are expected across all of Northern and Central NSW during the 2 days - even Friday could continue to see lingering rain or showers on the coast. Widespread moderate to locally heavy falls of 50-75mm are likely inland with 75-150mm possible along the coast north from about Wollongong.
Given the fact it is already moister than an oyster and the cockroaches have grown webbed feet, some flash flooding will happen more easily under areas of intense rainfall.
Rivers and creeks will also respond quickly so a few catchments may reach moderate or even edge near major flood levels.
NO SNOW is expected from this system due to low levels being too warm and the cold core too far west - there has been some carrying on from outlets for the Northern Tablelands but we have dissed it.
The 5000 existing potholes will grow in size and number during this period so drive carefully.

TC Alfreds rain forecast is very big! The heaviest rain is expected from late Thursday especially on Friday and Saturday. All areas from the Sunshine Coast south to Coffs Harbour inland to the ranges are likely to see totals of 250-500mm but it is very possible we could see some huge falls up to 1000mm especially on the southern side of the system (red circle). Just west of the ranges on the Darling Downs / Granite Belt and Northern Tablelands could also see some very decent rainfall over 100mm. Flash flooding, dangerous rapid flooding & major river / creek flooding from this system could become a real serious issue and we have HIGH flood risk maps issued in the subscribers portal for that.
LISMORE "just take a deep breath & stay calm" you will get plenty of lead-time and warnings if it looks like being a major flood or the levee might breach. People in upstream catchments share your reports during a flood event it really helps those downstream too!
*Flood prone areas - take precautions now ahead of time. Have enough supplies to last 3-5 days and move livestock to higher ground. Be ready to receive and act on stern advice or evacuations if needed*

Ok it's time to get serious! *Please share & tag to family & friends so that they know what is coming* All forecast data currently has Tropical Cyclone Alfred crossing the SEQLD / NENSW coast with most saying a category 2 strength ATM. The current coastal crossing track margins are from Rainbow Beach to Byron Bay with the greater Brisbane area favoured - this may change yet so staying UPDATED is very important. From Wednesday onwards widespread severe impacts are likely with the system (especially across the Southern half) ranging from destructive winds, extreme rainfall up to 1000mm causing flash flooding with minor to major river and creek flooding. 7 meter swell with much higher peak waves causing significant beach damage and erosion along with inundation of low lying foreshore areas especially on high tides. Please be prepared not scared!
HSC subscribers your info will ramp up even further from tomorrow with daily video forecasts plus a second very high detailed zoomed in track & intensity map with coastal crossing and many towns listed. A high risk flood map will be issued, plus the weekly and daily rainfall maps. Live updates and warnings get sent to email and mobile app notifications.
