🧩✨ October is ADHD Awareness Month ✨🧩

This month, we shine a light on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)—a condition that affects focus, self-regulation, and behaviour, but also brings creativity, energy, and unique strengths.

Research shows that by the age of 10, children with ADHD may have heard 20,000 more negative comments than their peers—words that can affect confidence and wellbeing. At Prelude Australia, we focus on encouragement, understanding, and celebrating each child’s strengths.

With the right strategies, positive environments, and early support, children with ADHD can thrive at home, school, and in the community.

This ADHD Awareness Month, let’s replace stigma with understanding and criticism with encouragement.

We spoke with Prelude clients and their families to hear what they want people to know about life with ADHD.

At Prelude Australia, we love seeing how simple play can support learning and development in amazing ways. Playdough can be made at home with a few simple ingredients. We have added one of our favourite and easy playdough recipes too!

A big thank you to our local clubs for their generous grant funding!

Because of their support, our therapists and NDIS teachers are able to visit our playgroup, providing families with free access to advice, guidance, and information about developmental pathways and supports.

This funding makes a real difference, helping families feel confident to ask questions about their child’s development and connect with the right supports early. 💜

As we close out celebrating Speech Pathology week we want to say a big thank you to our dedicated and enthusiastic team of Speech Pathologists at Prelude Australia.
Our Speech Pathologist at Prelude Australia think they have the best job as they help children learn to communicate their needs and wants - like saying their name for the first time, signing how they feel, expressing on their AAC device they want a drink. The joy the child feels is contagious!
We think our Speech Pathologists have summed it up perfectly- We work with so many amazing children and families at Prelude Australia. It is a privilege to share in their lives and “empower them to be their authentic self”
