MAGNESIUM! A great insight below on why this element is so important in all our daily lives. Not only hormones, also essential in regulating stress, sleep and blood glucose.

As my patients can tell you, I prescribe magnesium for almost every hormonal condition including PCOS, insulin resistance, PMDD, migraines, and perimenopause.

Magnesium:
- regulates cortisol and the HPA axis
- reduces blood sugar and normalizes insulin
- supports thyroid
- aids sleep
- fuels cellular energy
- activates vitamin D
- slows aging, and
- normalizes the action of progesterone on the central nervous system.

A therapeutic dose of magnesium is at least 300 mg which usually equates to three capsules. If your label says “500 mg magnesium glycinate” per capsule, check if it is actually referring to “total” magnesium glycinate (magnesium plus glycine). And read carefully to see how much “equivalent magnesium” or "elemental magnesium" is provided by each capsule.

Food sources of magnesium include leafy greens, almonds, dark chocolate, and mineral water.

Hi!

Getting out there and meeting people is a great part of what I love about my work. If you’re in the area, stop by and have a chat 😊
The people at Jetts Kwinana are really caring and love what they do, too.

😮 wow!! Nasturtium chips? Pickling the seeds like capers? Fantastic ideas!

I occasionally use the leaves and flowers in salads, they taste amazing, a little like rocket, and are so packed full of nutrients.

Who else has nasturtiums growing like crazy at the moment?

💕🌱🌻

Lightly spicy nasturtium chips, picked and prepped by Gather (one of my very favorite herbal food blogs).
These are oiled, salted, and baked for about 10-12 minutes at 275 degrees. Check out Gather's website for truly inspired wild food and herbal recipes + a wonderful dose of plant history and magic.

Just go for it! 🤩🤩🤩

In case you’re wondering what life would have been like had you made other choices....

Or had a dream or passion for something that didn’t happen...

What better time than right now? Instead of waiting another year or five, make the decision to do it, now!

I’m currently inspired to create art, draw and paint with my 11 year old, something I used to love, and still brings me a feeling of connection and inspiration. 💕

What are you not doing, that you could start right now to bring you joy?

Looking for dairy free or vegan options? We’re making nachos tonight and this sour cream recipe is pretty fine! Even leaving out the garlic and onion powder to make a basic sour cream, it ticks all the boxes. Organic tofu is the best option if possible, as soy is a highly sprayed crop.

There are so many options out there for those of us who can’t tolerate dairy, or choose not to consume it.

More dairy free recipe links to follow!

This quick easy vegan dairy free tofu sour cream is tart and delicious.

I’m a big fan of using garden herbs - so many of them are medicinal! 🌿💚

Sage is lovely for a sore throat, as is thyme, mint - throw in some lemongrass greens or lemon verbena, lemon balm, a squeeze of lemon juice and a bit of raw honey, and there you have some soothing herbal medicine straight from your garden!

What herbs do you grown in your garden? Perhaps they have medicinal uses too 😊

💓🌙

If you've got a sore throat, head to the pantry or vegetable garden to see if you've got some Sage leaves handy. In Western herbal medicine, Sage leaves are traditionally used as topical applications to relieve inflamed mucous membranes of the throat and oral cavity. You can make a Sage gargle at home by putting 2 teaspoons of fresh or dried sage leaves in a teacup then pouring boiling water over it. Cover the cup and leave the tea to brew until it completely cools. Then strain it and use it to gargle for a few moments before spitting the liquid out. In some circumstances, your natural health professional may mix a tailor-made herbal gargle for you that also incorporates other herbs, so talk to them about what's most appropriate for your personal circumstances.
