Kyabram Regional Clinic Kyabram Regional Clinic, community and family orientated medical clinic. Supporting Kyabram Hospital We provide 24-hour cover for our patients.

Kyabram Regional Clinic was established approximately 40 years ago in Union Street with one GP. There have been several moves and renovations over the past years to accommodate a growing practice, until finally reaching our current location at 98 Fenaughty St, Kyabram. Our practice consists of 6 full-time GP’s and 4 part time GP’s. Administration staff consists of 4 full-time and 7 part-time recep

tionists. Our nursing department has 1 full-time and 3 part-time practice nurses. This is a busy rural general practice in which all GP’s do procedural work and we have a big local hospital commitment. We have two satellite clinics in the surrounding towns of Tongala and Stanhope. Patients are able to mark appointments for Tongala through our clinic or at Tongala when it is open. The Stanhope clinic is part of the Community Health Centre; Kyabram staff will make appointments for Stanhope.

From July 2025, eligible people in Australia will be able to participate in screening for lung cancer through the National Lung Cancer Screening Program. Screening is a way of finding signs of cancer in people who do not have any symptoms.

The goal is to find cancer early, when it is easier to treat. Lung cancer screening uses a low-dose CT scan to look for any small lumps, called nodules. Lung cancer screening can find 70% of lung cancer at its early stages, before there are any symptoms and when treatment is most effective

Ask the GP at your next appointment if you believe you are eligible

Cervical Screening

🌼Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable cancers, if found early.

🌼Almost all cases of cervical cancer are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), a very common virus spread through sexual contact.

🌼A Cervical Screening Test (which replaced the Pap test) looks for human papillomavirus (HPV).

🌼Finding HPV early gives you the best protection against cervical cancer.

🌼If you are a woman or person with a cervix aged 25 to 74, you need to do a Cervical Screening Test every five years, even if you don’t have any symptoms.

🌼You have a choice for your next Cervical Screening Test. You can have the test done by a doctor or nurse, or you can self-collect your test, using a small swab.

🌼Self-collection is done in a private space at a healthcare clinic, usually behind a curtain or in the bathroom.

🌼Self-collection is quick, easy, private and just as accurate as a test done by a doctor or nurse.

Quitting va**ng The sooner you stop va**ng, the better!

It might feel challenging, but you can do it. You don’t have to do it alone. There are lots of support options to help you.
Speak with:
• your school nurse
• your doctor
• Quitline – they help young people quit va**ng. They are free, friendly and every chat with you is private.

What are you va**ng?

V**e liquid contains many different chemicals. V**es can contain the same poisonous chemicals found in biofuel, paint thinner and bug killer. Some chemicals found in v**e aerosols can cause cancer. Others can cause swelling and irritation in the throat and lungs and can impact the heart. Many flavours are made up of chemicals that damage lung cells or irritate the lungs. When you v**e, your lungs’ natural defences may not be able to protect you as well as they normally would against infection from bacteria, viruses and mould.

You can contact Quitline on webchat, WhatsApp, Messenger
or call 13 7848

Trying to lose some weight?

Trying to lose a bit of weight but don’t want to spend hours in the gym or starve yourself? Here’s the good news — small, realistic changes can make a big difference!

💡 To lose about 0.5kg per week, aim for a daily 500-calorie deficit. One easy way is to:

🥗 Cut 250 calories from your diet (for reference: a KitKat Chunky = 263 calories)

💪 Burn 250 calories through activity, such as:

🚶‍♂️ Brisk walk

🏊‍♀️ Swim

🚴‍♀️ Cycle

🏃‍♂️ Run

⏱ 25 mins of HIIT or 1 hour of strength training

👉 The best exercise is the one you enjoy and can stick with. Start small and stay consistent — it adds up!
