🌺 Remembrance Day at Warramunda Village

Last week, our Warramunda community came together in a moving and heartfelt Remembrance Day service — honouring the courage, sacrifice and service of those who have defended our country.

We are deeply grateful to Clive Toms from the RSL, who once again led our service with dignity, compassion and perfect timing for both the Ode and the Minute’s Silence.

Each year we are joined by the wonderful students from St Augustine’s, and once again they touched our hearts with their beautiful readings and singing. Their presence adds something truly special to the day.

We were honoured to have resident Isobel Attwood, a proud Legacy Lady, lay the wreath on behalf of our community.

Resident Mavis Grummitt closed the service with a thoughtful and heartfelt Prayer of Reflection.

Thank you to all residents, staff, students and guests who joined us. These shared moments remind us how important it is to pause, reflect and remember — together. ❤️

💛 Family, connection and cherished moments 💛

It has been a heart-warming few weeks here at Warramunda, with families travelling near and far to spend special time with their loved ones.

🎃 Halloween fun for Mavis
Resident Mavis Grummitt was delighted by a visit from her son and family last Friday — all dressed up in their Halloween best! Their colourful costumes brought plenty of smiles and joy to the Village.

✈️ A long-distance reunion for Nancy
On November 10, Nancy Elborough welcomed relatives — the Roberts family, who travelled all the way from Perth — for a beautiful and much-anticipated catch-up.

💐 Honouring Lindy’s legacy
We were also touched to see Wally and Heather Ferguson spending meaningful time with their family. Wally is one of our Independent Living residents and Heather resides in the Village. They gathered outside Lindy’s Laundry, named in honour of their daughter Lindy Sheers, a much-loved former Warramunda Laundress who recently passed away.

In the photo (left to right): Johnny Ferguson, Lilian, Wally Ferguson, Heather Ferguson, and residents Maureen and Bob Ferguson.

These visits remind us just how important family, memories and shared moments are within our Warramunda community. 💛

💜 Celebrating the New Aged Care Standards — Warramunda Style!

While aged care providers across the country braced for the arrival of the New Strengthened Aged Care Standards, Warramunda Village embraced the change with colour, laughter and confidence.

Led by Clinical Services Director Sarah Gaunt — affectionately known around the Village as “Judge Judy” — our team transformed the corridors into a vibrant expo of care, culture and connection. Seven themed stations showcased each standard through creative displays, while our “Care Tree” invited staff and residents to pledge their commitment to Warramunda’s values.

Traditional dances, heartfelt conversations and plenty of sweet treats made the day a true celebration of what makes our community special — compassion, professionalism and pride in the care we provide every day.

Today the Warramunda Village community lost a much loved and respected figure - Lindy Sheers.❤️
Lindy spent 25 years working in Residential Aged Care and lost her three and a half year battle with cancer this morning.
Our condolences to her family - husband Ian, children Andrew and Bre, brother Craig and the extended family.🥲
Below is a letter pencilled by CEO John Clark, and distributed to our Warramunda community, which shows just how much Lindy was loved.

🎨🏅 Creative spirits shine at Warramunda! 🏅🎨

Last Friday, our residents welcomed local artist Murray Ross for another inspiring monthly art session — and what a wonderful day it was!

We’re proud to share that our talented artists entered their recent creations into the Kyabram Show, bringing home not one, but two Second Prizes! 👏
🏆 Trevor McQueen received Second Prize for his individual artwork
🏆 The Warramunda Collective Art Group also earned Second Prize for their group piece

The joy and pride among our residents was truly heartwarming — a testament to the creativity, teamwork, and encouragement that fill our art sessions each month.

A big thank you to Murray Ross for continuing to nurture the artistic talents of our community. 💛

🦅🎶 Look who's back! 🎶🦅

We were thrilled to welcome AFL star Harley Reid back to Warramunda Village last week — and this time, there was music in the air!

Our much-loved resident pianist Topsy surprised Harley by learning to play the West Coast Eagles’ club song, and soon the room was filled with cheers and singing as everyone joined in. 💙💛

It was another special visit from Tongala’s own footy sensation, who continues to make time for his hometown community. The joy on our residents’ faces says it all — a truly heartwarming afternoon to remember.

Swipe through to see some highlights, including Harley’s great aunty Ann Kelly, who continues her amazing work as part of the Warramunda team.

🎥 We’ve also shared a short video from the day — make sure you turn up the volume!

🌼Scenic day out for Rockman Wing Residents🌼
Last Thursday our Rockman Wing residents enjoyed a wonderful bus outing through the Dookie countryside. The drive was filled with breathtaking views of golden canola fields and a stop to admire a beautiful old church - a perfect spring adventure.
The group then headed to Shepparton Club for lunch where the meals and service were absolutely amazing. 🥗🍰
Outings like these are such a special way for our residents to connect, reminisce, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.💛

🌟 Wrapping up the Ageing Australia Conference! 🌟

Last week, our Warramunda team proudly represented Warramunda Community Care at the Ageing Australia Conference on the Gold Coast — an inspiring event that brought together aged care leaders, innovators, and advocates from across the country.

Warramunda Community Care Director Leah Konings and Warramunda Operations Coordinator Marissa Hooper were joined by board member John Moore (Aged Care Advisory Services), Residential Aged Care Director Clinical Services Sarah Gaunt, and Education and Quality Director Melinda Thomas for several days of learning, collaboration, and fresh ideas.

Across the conference, our team explored sessions and workshops on:
🧠 Dementia care and training
🏡 The new Support at Home model
♿ Disability inclusion in aged care
🔄 Re-designing home care for the future
🎤 Leadership and innovation in aged care

While we’ve already taken big steps forward with The Lookout Way, our digital care platform, the conference offered even more inspiration — including a fascinating session on AI in aged care and a glimpse of what’s ahead with a robotic carer! This futuristic helper speaks 91 languages, plays music, blows bubbles, and even reads poetry — though we’re not sure how it’ll go in the garden, so Izy, Sean, and Caesar might still be safe! 😉

Our team has returned energised and full of new ideas to share with colleagues, helping us continue to deliver exceptional care and innovation across Warramunda. 💜

AFL star Harley Reid visits! 🦅🏉

Warramunda Village was treated to a very special visit yesterday from Tongala’s own Harley Reid, now making headlines as a West Coast Eagles AFL star.

It was an especially heartwarming moment, as Harley has a long family connection to Warramunda — his mum Vanessa and grandmother Mary Reid both worked here, and his great aunty Ann Kelly is still a valued member of our team.

One of the photos we’re sharing takes us back 10 years, when a 10-year-old Harley posed with Essendon player Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti during an Essendon Football Club visit to Warramunda. What a full-circle moment!

We’re delighted to share these photos with you — a snapshot of a wonderful day for residents, staff, and our community.

Thank you, Harley, for taking the time to visit — it meant so much to everyone at Warramunda! 💙💛

✈️Work to Live – Week 2 🚂🌄
Here is the Part 2 in our series of holidays posts from Chief Executive Officer, John, who has finished his Canadian experience (taking in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal) and is about to depart New York after watching the AFL grand final in the early hours of the morning.
He is almost two weeks into the Bucket List Trip – and we’re excited to share the next leg of the journey with you!
While in the Big Apple 🍎 he found a modern twist on the classic Aussie tourism ads that once featured Crocodile Dundee inviting Americans to “throw a shrimp on the barbie.” These days, it’s Robert Irwin lighting up the billboards with a big Aussie grin and a warm “G’day!”
🎭 What’s a trip to New York without a Broadway show? John caught Hadestown, a modern retelling of the Greek tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice. We won’t spoil the ending (you’ll have to ask John!), but let’s just say it was dramatic, emotional, and unforgettable.
🏉 In true Aussie spirit, John managed to find a bar to watch the AFL Grand Final, despite the 12:30am kick-off in New York! A well-timed nap helped, and the atmosphere was worth every yawn.
Next stop: more adventures, more stories, and more chances to live the motto—Work to Live. Stay tuned! ✈️🌍
