Celebrating an Extraordinary Contribution 🌟

At Warramunda Village’s recent AGM, Board Chair Alison Hunter presented her final annual report, sharing that she will step down from the role in February next year after an extraordinary period of service.

Alison has been a guiding presence at Warramunda Village for almost three decades, serving as Chair since 1997 after previously leading the Management Committee. During that time she has helped shape the Village through periods of growth and change — supporting new building developments, embracing innovation in aged care, and helping guide the organisation through significant reforms, including the introduction of the new Aged Care Act and major accreditation changes.

Alison and her husband Chris are well-known and warmly welcomed members of the Warramunda community, familiar faces to residents, families, staff and our Independent Living Unit community.

Alison’s leadership, commitment and passion have left a lasting mark on Warramunda Village. Her contribution stands alongside the many dedicated people whose vision and care have helped make Warramunda the special place it is today.

We thank Alison for her remarkable service and look forward to celebrating her contribution over the coming year as she prepares to step down from the Board. 💙

If you ever needed proof that Warramunda Village is deeply woven into the fabric of Kyabram life, look no further than our latest community showdown on the Kyabram Bowling Club greens!

In what can only be described as a glorious day for the working man—and a slightly bruising one for our CEO John—the mighty Flippers toppled the polished Shiny Shirts in a night‑bowls grudge match 💥😂

Led by capital works manager Stuart Burt, with maintenance and gardens legends Isy Emini and Sean Davidson in support roles, the Flippers’ calloused, hard‑earned grip proved too much for the smooth‑handed finesse of CEO John, comms consultant Rohan Aldous, and designer Dale Denham. The result? A commanding win for the blue‑collar brigade 💪🟦

But here’s the real story:
This friendly rivalry is a perfect snapshot of what makes Warramunda special. Our executive team doesn’t just lead from the office - they stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder with the staff who deliver care, support and services every single day, in and out of business hours. Whether it’s on the floor, in the garden, or on the bowling green, we show up together. Always. 🤝💛

And our involvement in community events like this is just another chapter in our 70‑year relationship with Kyabram - a partnership built on connection, laughter, shared stories and a whole lot of heart.

Of course, the Flippers have wasted no time spreading the news of their victory (whether people asked for the update or not). A cheeky poster even appeared inside CEO John’s office door… just in case he needed a reminder of how things went down 😏🎯

But don’t count the Shiny Shirts out just yet. They’re already plotting their comeback - and surely there’s a sport somewhere that will finally give them the edge. Darts? Table tennis? Competitive cup‑stacking? Stay tuned… this rivalry is far from over 👀🔥

🌱 Warramunda Village Proudly Supports Kyabram’s 2026 Fairley Leadership Participant 🌱

We’re excited to share that Warramunda Village, together with Community Bank Kyabram, is co‑sponsoring Renee Pichler as the inaugural recipient of the Kyabram Community Scholarship in the 2026 Fairley Leadership Program 🎉

The Fairley Leadership Program, delivered by Goulburn Murray Community Leadership, is the region’s flagship leadership experience - bringing together emerging leaders to build skills in collaboration, regional awareness and community impact. It’s all about developing people who help strengthen the Goulburn Murray now and into the future 🌾

Renee was selected from a strong field of applicants who are already making a difference in Kyabram. Her passion for sustainability, community education, seed‑saving and local food systems has made her a familiar and valued contributor. She’s a regular speaker, a founding member of the Kyabram seed library, and someone who genuinely believes in neighbours helping neighbours 🌿

For Warramunda, supporting Renee is a natural extension of our seven‑decade commitment to the Kyabram community. CEO John will mentor her throughout the six‑month program, sharing insights into community leadership and how local ideas can become real‑world outcomes 🤝

Renee begins her Fairley journey on March 4, joining participants from across the region for program days, online learning, study tours and regional summits. She’s “all in” - and we’re proud to be standing beside her.

This partnership reflects our belief that strong communities grow their own leaders. And Kyabram is richer for people like Renee stepping forward 💛

This afternoon a fire alarm was activated in the Mary Sleeth wing of Warramunda Village's Residential Aged Care building. The alarm was due to a pressure fault in the sprinkler system and was not due to a fire.

The Kyabram Fire Brigade attended promptly, confirmed the cause of the alarm and issued the all‑clear shortly after arrival. No evacuation was required, and residents stayed in their rooms without disruption.

Warramunda staff completed welfare checks on all residents in the affected area and confirmed everyone was safe and comfortable. A stand‑down was issued and normal operations resumed.

Some families may have seen an automatic VicEmergency notification triggered by the alarm. The situation was quickly assessed as a false alarm, and no further action was required.

Staff and the Kyabram Fire Brigade responded swiftly and professionally, and residents have continued their evening as normal. We appreciate the professionalism of all parties involved.

🌙 Barefoot Bowls, Warramunda-style! 🎳

We’ve loved cheering on our Warramunda Village teams in the Kyabram Bowls Club’s Barefoot Night Bowls competition. While the opening week was postponed due to extreme heat, the action finally rolled on from February 4, and our residents and staff were ready to play!

🏆 Team 1 – Stu, Izy and Sean came out firing, securing two great wins with scores of 4–3 and 8–5.
💪 Team 2 – Clarky, Dale and Rohan fought hard and took their match right down to a tense one-end tie-breaker, showing plenty of grit and good sportsmanship.

It’s been wonderful to see connection, laughter and friendly competition under the lights. Win, lose or draw, nights like these are all about community – and that’s something we’ll always celebrate at Warramunda Village 💛

🐾💙 A visit that always brings smiles 💙🐾

Our residents were thrilled to welcome Vonda Meloni and her beautiful Shih Tzu, Teddy, for another much-loved pet therapy visit recently. There’s always excitement, gentle pats and happy faces when these two arrive. 🐶✨

We’re also incredibly proud to congratulate Vonda on her recent nomination for Campaspe Citizen of the Year — a wonderful recognition of the kindness, connection and joy she and Teddy share so generously with our community.

At Warramunda, they’re more than visitors… they’re part of our Village family. 💛

Last Thursday we marked Australia Day at Warramunda Village with plenty of laughter, good company and a classic Aussie tradition… the thong throwing competition! 🩴😄

Residents and staff got right into the spirit of the day, with some very impressive throws on display and lots of cheering from the sidelines.

Congratulations to our terrific thong-throwing champions Eve Cunningham, Trevor McQueen, Maureen and Bob Ferguson, who proved that practice (and aim!) really does make perfect.

It was a joyful way to celebrate together – full of smiles, friendly competition and community spirit 💙

There’s nothing quite like sharing a special meal with family, and recently our resident Ron Lange did just that.

Ron was delighted to welcome his daughter Kathryn and grandson Matthew to Warramunda Village for lunch to celebrate Matthew’s birthday. The occasion was made even more special as Matthew, a Captain in the Australian Army, chose to mark his day surrounded by family right here at Warramunda.

Moments like these remind us that Warramunda is more than a place to live – it’s a place where families come together to celebrate life’s milestones 💙

📣 Update for Our Warramunda Community
At around 2.40pm today, an electrical fault causing smoke occurred in our Saunders Street wing.
Our smoke alarms activated immediately, and the Kyabram Fire Brigade attended promptly. 🚒
Our team followed the emergency management plan with confidence and care, safely evacuating residents to a designated area within the Village. Residents remained comfortable and supported for about an hour while emergency services, electricians, and our maintenance team inspected the area. ✔️

We know some community members may have seen the VicEmergency alert, so we want to reassure everyone that all residents are safe, well, and now back in their rooms. We also understand that a number of people were calling in for updates; however, with staff fully focused on executing the emergency procedures, we were unable to take these calls at the time. We appreciate your patience and understanding. 💛

A heartfelt thank‑you to our dedicated Warramunda staff for their quick, calm, and precise response, and to the Kyabram Fire Brigade for their support. Your professionalism ensures our residents’ safety every day. 🙏

🎉 101 Years Young – Celebrating Norma Mansell 🎉

On Sunday 11 January, we were honoured to celebrate an extraordinary milestone at Warramunda Village as our much-loved resident Norma Mansell marked her 101st birthday.

Surrounded by flowers from her daughter Wendy and family, warm wishes from our CEO, a beautiful birthday cake, and the smiling faces of staff who adore her, Norma’s day was filled with love, laughter and gentle celebration.

One of our favourite moments was capturing Norma in front of the stunning mural of the Kyabram Memorial Gardens in our Saunders Street Wing – a fitting backdrop for a woman whose life spans more than a century of memories, stories and change.

Happy 101st birthday, Norma. Thank you for sharing your remarkable journey with us. You are truly treasured 💙

This is how we cool down at Warramunda Village ☀️🍧

When the mercury hit 44 degrees during Victoria’s recent heatwave, our residents and staff found the perfect way to beat the heat – icy poles, smiles and a whole lot of laughter.

Sometimes it’s the simplest moments that bring the biggest joy 💙
