🌊 My Visit Back to Lemon Tree Passage 🌊
I went to Lemon Tree Passage recently with my support worker to visit a place that is really special to me, because I grew up there.

It felt nice going back. It brought back a lot of memories, and I liked seeing everything again. We went for a walk and checked out the local park, which I used to know.

One of my favourite things was the water views. It was really pretty and calm, and I enjoyed just standing there and looking out at the water. It made me feel relaxed and happy.

The area was easy to get around, which made the visit better for me. The paths were quite flat and open, and there was plenty of space to move around without feeling crowded. There were also places to sit and take breaks, which helped when I got tired.

I liked that it wasn’t too busy, and I could take my time looking around without feeling rushed. Being somewhere that I already knew also made me feel more comfortable.
Going back to Lemon Tree Passage was really special for me. I’m really glad I got to visit again and see the park and the water.

I would give Lemon Tree Passage 5 out of 5 meerkats 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
It’s peaceful, easy to get around, and a really nice place to spend time.
I’m proud of myself for getting out and visiting a place that means a lot to me 💙

💻 New Leaf Computer Group – Building Skills Together! 💻
We’ve loved seeing our participants roll up their sleeves and get hands‑on in our Computer Group, proudly building their own computers in partnership with the legends at Elevated IT 🙌
This group is all about learning practical tech skills, building confidence, and having a go at something new — with plenty of support and encouragement along the way. A big shout‑out to our support worker Matthew, who has been right there alongside everyone, helping troubleshoot, explain, and celebrate every win.
The photos say it all — focus, teamwork, problem‑solving, and plenty of proud moments 💙
We’re so proud of what our participants are achieving and grateful to Elevated IT for supporting such a meaningful, capacity‑building experience.

🖼🎨Just another Meerkat Monday - Newcastle Museum🎨🖼

I recently went to Newcastle Museum with my Disability Support Worker, Natalya, to check it out and see what it was like. I wanted to see how accessible it was and whether I enjoyed my time there.
The museum was easy to get into and easy to move around. Everything is on one level, which I liked because I didn’t have to worry about stairs. There were ramps, wide spaces, and lots of clear signs, which made it easier to know where I was going. There were also accessible toilets and places where I could stop and have a rest if I needed to.
The staff were friendly, and the museum felt calm. I liked that they offer quiet times and low‑sensory sessions, which is really good for people who don’t like noisy or crowded places.
Some of the exhibits were interesting, but not all of them were my favourite. I enjoyed looking around for a while, but after some time I felt ready to leave. I’m still glad I went and tried it out.
Overall, I would give Newcastle Museum 3 out of 5 meerkats 🐾🐾🐾
It’s a good place if you want something accessible and easy to get around.
I’m proud of myself for getting out and giving something new a go.

🐾Leeann's Meerkat Mondays - Black Butt Reserve 🐾
I went to Blackbutt Reserve with my Disability Support Worker, Casey, to check it out and see what it was like.
To be honest, I didn’t really like all the walking. There was more walking than I expected, and I got tired pretty quickly. Even though the paths were wide and easy to follow, it still felt like a long way between the different areas.
There were lots of signs, which was helpful and made it easier to know where I was going. There were also places to stop and sit down, which I needed so I could have a rest.
I did enjoy seeing some of the animals, and my favourite part was the wombat. I really liked watching the wombat, and that made the visit better for me.
Overall, Blackbutt Reserve was okay. I think it’s probably better for people who enjoy lots of walking. For me, the walking made it harder to enjoy everything, but I’m still glad I went and gave it a go.
I would give Blackbutt Reserve a 4 out of 5 Meerkats🦘⭐️
I’m proud of myself for trying something new, even though it wasn’t fully my thing.

🐾Leeanns Meekat Mondays - Leeann tries new activities🐾
This week I went to Maitland Public Pool to check it out and see what it was like. I wanted to see how accessible it was, how friendly the staff were, what the layout was like, and whether I’d recommend it to other people.
I went on 13 April 2026 with my support worker, Demi. It was my first time going there, so I felt a bit nervous at the start.
I really liked the accessibility at the pool. There was a ramp and a hoist, which made it easier to get in and out of the water. There were also lots of signs around the pool, which made it easy to know where things were and helped me feel less confused. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made me feel more comfortable being there for the first time.
When I got in, I went into the deep end and danced around in the water, which was really fun. I also saw some of my family members doing aqua aerobics. My aunty showed me some moves, and I enjoyed learning them. Later on, we had lunch together, which was really nice.
While I was there, I felt happy, calm, nervous, and tired all at the same time. The best part of the day was definitely seeing my family at the pool and spending time with them.
Getting out of the pool was a bit tricky, and the water was really cold, but I was proud of myself for not complaining and just giving it a go anyway.
I might go back to Maitland Pool again, but probably not too often. I don’t want to get sick of it or feel bored if I swim all the time.
Overall, I’m really proud of myself for trying something new.

I give Maitland Pool 4/5 Meerkats

💜 International Women’s Day 2026 – Give to Gain 💜
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible women of New Leaf Disability Supports — the women we support and the women who support others every day.
The theme Give to Gain reflects what we see in action at New Leaf. When women are given opportunity, respect, choice, and the right supports, they gain confidence, independence, connection, and voice. In turn, our community gains strength, diversity, compassion, and leadership.
Our female participants continue to build skills, independence, and meaningful lives on their own terms. Alongside them, our female employees contribute their knowledge, care, and professionalism. Supporting positive outcomes, strong relationships, and environments where women feel safe, empowered, and valued.
Today we recognise that when we invest in women, especially women with disability, everyone benefits.
We are proud to celebrate the women who make New Leaf what it is 💜
