Creating inclusive learning opportunities through education, connection and fun ✨

Today we worked alongside students in a school setting to provide education around conductive hearing loss and the importance of correct nose blowing techniques to support ear health and wellbeing. Deanne used our puppet Max, were she had all of the students engaged in a fun, interactive, and inclusive way that encouraged participation, laughter, and learning.

By integrating practical strategies into everyday school environments, we aim to make intervention accessible, meaningful and empowering for every child. Early education and inclusive support can make such a positive difference in children’s health, confidence, and participation both in the classroom and beyond 💛

Lucy often reminisces about her wonderful experiences of working for Apunipima in Cape York and for the Royal Flying Doctors in remote and rural Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.

Lucy - It meant travelling long distances, adapting constantly and learning how to provide support in ways that were culturally safe, practical, flexible and meaningful for each client and their community. It meant understanding health and wellbeing were deeply connected to family, culture, Country, community, identity and lived experience. ​

Her experience working within Aboriginal communities has strengthened her understanding of the importance of trust, relationship building, cultural respect and taking the time to genuinely listen. What Lucy values the most about her work in remote communities is not simply the clinical experience she has gained, but the relationships, stories and perspectives shared with her along the way. ​She speaks often about the resilience, strength, humour, connection and generosity she has witnessed within Aboriginal communities.

These experiences have profoundly shaped the therapist and person she is today. Lucy is deeply passionate about providing culturally respectful care that honors each individual's identity, strengths and lived experiences. She believes meaningful connection starts with connection first - not judgement or assumptions. ​Her work continues to be driven by advocacy, inclusion and genuine commitment to all of the families she works with.

About the Role

This is a community and clinic based role working across Lake Macquarie and the Hunter region, supporting clients across the lifespan with a mixed caseload (primarily paediatric, with flexibility depending on your interests).

Your days will look like:

Supporting children and families in their homes, schools, and community environments

Delivering evidence-based, functional therapy aligned with NDIS goals

Building strong relationships with families, educators, and stakeholders

Using your clinical reasoning to create meaningful, individualised interventions
