Today we celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day - observed every 4 August across Australia.
🖤💛❤️ 💚🖤💙
This year's theme, Little Footsteps, Big Future, honours the journeys our children take as they grow - each step guided by culture, community and connection to Country.
We invite you to join us in recognising the importance of nurturing children's voices and dreams. Together, we can support a future where every child walks strong in their identity and is empowered to shape their own path.
For Aruma's Regional Manager Wayne Adamson, this day holds special meaning. As we shared during NAIDOC Week, Wayne has witnessed firsthand the incredible strength and resilience of Indigenous children in his care:
💬 "Through foster care for Indigenous children, I've learnt so much about First Nations background and culture. It's been incredibly educational, and deeply humbling," Wayne reflects.
Wayne is especially proud of Euan's journey - a young Indigenous man who has been in his care for four and a half years. Despite facing significant challenges, Euan's determination shines through.
💬 "No one thought this day would come, but Euan is determined. He refuses to be defined by his diagnosis. His strength and his drive inspire me every single day."
💬 "Seeing a child go from surviving to thriving is the best feeling. Watching them reclaim their identity, their pride, and feel truly at home - that's powerful."
Stories like Euan's remind us why today matters. Every child deserves to walk proudly in their culture while building their own bright future.
